[quote="Dreamsglore"]More interesting news. Both parents have left their jobs to promote Justice for Trayvon and raised $6065. It's to raise awareness for hate crimes and change the stand your ground law. Neither which seem to apply so far.

"At press time, Justice For Trayvon Martin had raised $6,065, but Hall -- whose company has donated its marketing efforts to developing the campaign -- said that the family will likely burn through that much money in a month. The civil lawsuit could drag on for more than a year. The family will also need more money to establish -- and grow -- a nonprofit to raise awareness for hate crimes and to work to change the Stand Your Ground law."[/quote

I read where the parents won a huge cash settlement from the gated communities insurance.

The civil lawsuit could drag on for more than a year.

I read where the parents won a huge cash settlement from the gated communities insurance.

That is correct.

I dont see the reasoning of the family suing Zimmerman. If sued, I hope Zimm countersues.

Like Dreams said, Zimmerman should have gone to the hospital that night.  But forensic evidence has to be coming up soon and that will be interesting.

I am waiting  for Sal's answer, since he says that it was Trayvon screaming for help, as to what position the two were in when Zimmerman shot Trayvon.

The expert voice witness from yesterday morning said that even friends and family members might would only recognize the screams of someone in such distress IF they had heard that person scream like that under similar conditions.  The whole point of the expert's testimony is that you cannot listen to Zimmerman's and Trayvon's regular talking voice and determine whose screams those were that night.    And I also remember reading that even Trayvon's father, when first asked by police, said that the screams did not sound like his son.

BET, Jamie Fox, lazy shiftless parents making money off their dead son ...

... it's obvious Dream has taken the right tact in regards to this case.

First thing in court this morning...the prosecution is trying to get their own witness' testimony--the lead investigator's testimony--struck from the record.

Jaime Fox didn't say but he has been criticized for his racial remarks at an NAACP Awards. I guess the parents have now become celebrities over the death of their son and go to red carpet awards. The stepmother of Trayvon was crying on Anderson Cooper for being left out of it all after she says she raised him for 14 years. How messed up is all of this?

Dammit! You mean the step-mother didn't get to step foot on the red carpet?

What about Mr. Martin's girlfriend that lived in the gated community, did she get to go?

OOPS! There is a delay in the trial this morning.

The prosecution is trying to get the statement by the LEAD-DETECTIVE struck from the record. He said, it was his belief George Zimmerman was telling the truth.

Dammit!!!!

When the lead detective says that he felt pressured to move the case forward and that he believes the defendant was telling the truth...it is not going well for the prosecution.

Isn't he the same detective the Zimmerman haters said wanted to charge Zimmerman with murder the night of the incident?

I thought the same thing, unless there is another "lead detective".

The prosecutor just mistakenly called Trayvon the "defendant".
Good grief.

On redirect of the lead investigator, the prosecution again seems hostile towards his own witness.

Yes and should of immediately invoked his right to an attorney present when questioned. Zimm cooperated in their investigation without a lawyer. Dumb move. Prob would of never gone to trial if he had a lawyer in the beginning.

Possibly, but he probably thought his credibility would be challenged if he retained a lawyer right away.....he seems to be correct. He walked out that night with no charges. It took months before charges were ever brought. The truth will be found..........this has been an excellent trial by the state and defense. Excellent.

I don't think this trial has been particularly excellent for the state. They have been helping the defense all night long. The damn police are not even testifying in their behalf.

The police have nothing to add to the case . . . . it is all about 'what happened' after Zimmerman followed Martin . . . .

The prosecution finally has a witness that is supportive of their case.  She is the Duval County Medical Examiner.  I don't know why the prosecution had to come up to Duval County to find a witness.  But this is interesting about her:

 http://www.news4jax.com/news/more-complaints-on-jacksonville-medical-examiner-dr-valerie-rao/-/475880/20640256/-/rurvpcz/-/index.html
Published On: Jun 19 2013 10:26:54 PM EDT
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Jacksonville Medical Examiner Valerie Rao has been the subject of recurring complaints from her co-workers dating back to 2009. According to letters sent to the the city, "Rao has been seen touching cadavers with her bare hands, washing her feet in the autopsy sink, and performing unnecessary autopsies on inmates to create a revenue stream.".

Channel 4's learned that Rao actually has a history of complaints dating back 10 years, while she was Medical Examiner for Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. Dr. Rao was the Medical Examiner there from 2000 to 2003.

Channel 4 uncovered the minutes from the Medical Examiner's Commission meeting on May 15, 2003, that revealed concerns about Rao from funeral homes, organ donor organizations and law enforcement agencies.

In the minutes officers expressed disapproval of Dr. Rao's "propensity to classify virtually all prison deaths as homicides, and lack of expertise by office personnel in the management of crime scene investigations."

Funeral Directors complained that Dr. Rao's office lacked consistency when dealing with funeral homes.  The documents from the 2003 Commission meeting also specified that virtually all the complaints about Rao concerned her "administrative skills", not her "abilities as a forensic pathologist."

In that same meeting, the commission voted unanimously not to recommend her re-appointment.

After she left Florida, Dr. Rao took a Medical Examiner position in Missouri. When Channel 4 dug deeper into her time in Missouri, we uncovered more complaints.

In 2006, a television station in Columbus Missouri indicated that some of the pathology residents from the University of Missouri were, "glad to see her go."  According to the story, Rao didn't work enough with the residents.

Eventually Rao returned to Florida and was appointed Medical Examiner of Duval, Clay and Nassau counties in late 2011, a term, that according to Governor Rick Scott's Office, expired in July 2012.

Channel 4 called the governor's office Wednesday afternoon in hopes of  learning more about Rao's career and why she is still working as the Medical Examiner in our area if her contract expired in 2012. The press officer was not able to get that answer for us.

Channel 4 also reached out to the agencies who made complaints about Rao; only one person returned our calls Wednesday and did not want to comment.

The prosecutors primary goal is to do justice. I will have to wait to see if your conclusions are correct in regard to helping the defense.....I have only seen the State grinding....building their case, and being very professional. I am equally impressed by defense counsel. After today's witnesses I think the State continues doing exactly what they must do for the balance of the trial.

The one piece of evidence which has incrementally been worked on by the state is that as the two meet after Martin had been followed earlier, and after he expressed concern that someone was following him......Zimmerman through evidence introduced today clearly says that he reached into his pocket to get his phone......it was the moment he looked away as he was reaching for his pocket that he said he was struck by Martin......the State is grinding.....the picture and timelines are being refined......I find this trial to be excellent.

Dr Rao doesn't seem to want to answer the defense attorney's questions. I don't think under cross examination that she's doing a good job for the prosecution.

The judges evidentiary rulings are being much more careful this afternoon. Why she will redact other courses on this record, but allowed the comments on MMA on the medical records not to be redacted is still troubling.

Defense is making very poor arguments on the legal courses. The stand your ground comment on Hannity with his lawyer sitting right next to him......in the defense wanting to get their witness speaking to the jury, without having to call him.....they stipulated to the Hannity tape.....now they argue Zimmerman's statement should not be impeached......very very strange......I think the defense knows where this is going. The Judge is doing a very good job on this evidence ruling....I still do not get the MMA. She is giving them plenty of time to get cases. This evidence is relevant. The weight argument is really silly.....this is probative.

Serino testified that Zimmerman had profiled Martin, followed him, and displayed ill-will and spite in his comments to the police dispatcher.

She is the medical examiner. Her conclusion was the injuries were minor injuries and certainly not life threatening......why defense counsel ended with that silly question......."What about the next blow".....What about the next blow" was a terrible admission that in fact none of Zimmerman's injuries were anything but minor and superficial which conforms with Mr. Good's eyewitness account.

The defense failed in my opinion to be prepared with a demonstrative exhibit to show how unlikely the one contact testimony was. It is a simple exhibit. You take a one foot by one foot piece of plywood and paint its surface. You next take a basketball and make contact with that surface. The doctor said oval....to describe the head....so you use an actual skull and place it against the plywood. There will more probably than not only be one mark. Any student who took freshman geometry understands that the Doctors one blow was attempting to minimize the injuries.

Yes, that's why the prosecution tried to get some of his testimony struck from the record.
