Yup that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
I've been following your discussion with Bob and want to join in. It's interesting to me how all the Christian religion melds perfectly with the acceptance of a monarchy having the inborn right to rule. There is no God and never has been. Your holy book was designed by people who absolutely believed that by birth, their kings or emperors were better than they were. No wonder Christianity's leaders have always sat right alongside or directly behind Kings, Queens and other creeps. Accordingly, people like you Teo must hate democracy.
Democracy is the antithesis of monarchical rule -- it starts with the concept that all men are free. Consider: the U.S.A. is a country of law or a theocracy -- it can't be both.
Actually, your argument, like that of the fundamentalist Christian county clerks in Kentucky, is that one's first loyalty must be to God not country. Which, of course, agrees with religious fundamentalists like Jews, Muslims, Catholics, etc. By stating your loyalty to God having precedence over the law of your land, you've made it clear you are an enemy of the United States of America which was theoretically built on a foundation of equality and law. Such a reality isn't the least surprising to an Atheist like me. I've always thought of religion -- any religion -- as my enemy.
