Why is a pig using a donkey as an avatar...?

Trust me, I'll make damned sure your suggestion is broached.

I used to get angry, now I just ask why you would shit on AA because you loath Quint Studer.

Call your sponsor.

But it is a good idea. Studer doesnt give a shit or he would not be involved with alcohol sales. It is all about business.....

Ten years and thousands of meeting, yes I'm familiar with that BS saying. For you to index it to Quint is just wrong.

Honest answer. Why is it wrong to call out a person who claims alcohol almost ruined his life and preaches of his transformation, then in the next breath, he sells the same shit that almost killed him?

I'm not in AA, but I've been close enough to it through association with many family and friends that I'm familiar with a lot of its tenets.

This is a serious question and is meant in no way as an insult - wouldn't your concern with Studer's relationship with alcohol sales be a case of taking another's personal inventory?

This question has occurred to me before, so I apologize if I've asked before and forgotten your response.

Thanks.

I have no problem with people using or selling alcohol. My good friends drink and sometimes I even go to a bar to listen to the band or meet with friends. That is my choice. I worked for a man that sold a lot of beer and wine. I have no issue with him. He did not claim to be a alcoholic.
My problem is that one(1) AA should not be used to promote a business or ones self. I consider my being on this forum to be anonymous. Not too many people know my real name and I have never stated it on here.

That said, Mr Studer is constantly in the press stating his involvement in AA and his disastrous use of alcohol. For many reasons, that bothers me. I did not ask Mr Studer nor did I find this out in a AA meeting, it was his choice to go public. I find it incredulous that a person can choose to profit from the sale of the very thing that almost killed him.
It is my opinion. To be Honest I have not been to a AA meeting in the last 10 years. I have 31 years of sobriety as of March 18, 2013. I am speaking from my experience, that is all I have to go on. My thinking may be flawed, but so be it.

Because he's been sober and helping others for 30 years and the way he works his program is none of your fucking business.

Do you even have a clue how many sober AA folk own bars, restaurants that sell alcohol, or liquor stores, or who have jobs that are also involved with serving drinks to others, working at catered events where alcohol is served, convenience store clerks who sell beer and wine, cashiers at grocery stores, etc, etc....??

Call your sponsor and work another 4th step about Quint, admit that long held resentment....whatever it takes.

And STFU about AA.

in edit....

Why don't you ask Quint about it instead of backstabbing him all the time...?

I'm sure he'll be more than happy to share his reasons for going public....reasons I see as valid, and am not gonna discuss with you.

Call him or STFU.

It is called Alcoholics Anonymous for a reason. When someone breaks their Anonymity they pose a danger to the entire group. What if, God Forbid, Mr Studer started to drink again? People would quickly say' Yea that AA shit never works, just look at Mr X" There is the danger, it is real I have seen it happen before. Bill W had it right. It is called Alcoholics Anonymous for a reason. I could give a shit about Studer but I damn sure care for AA as it help me save my life.

From the 12 AA traditions
10.—No A.A. group or member should ever, in such a way as to implicate A.A., express any opinion on outside controversial issues—particularly those of politics, alcohol reform, or sectarian religion. The Alcoholics Anonymous groups oppose no one. Concerning such matters they can express no views whatever.

11.—Our relations with the general public should be characterized by personal anonymity. We think A.A. ought to avoid sensational advertising. Our names and pictures as A.A. members ought not be broadcast, filmed, or publicly printed. Our public relations should be guided by the principle of attraction rather than promotion. There is never need to praise ourselves. We feel it better to let our friends recommend us

UH huh. And if the person who outs themself does so because it was gonna happen by their enemies, what say you then dry drunk...?

Bill and Dr. Bob had no idea how today's society would operate, and how the use of personal information would affect AA members in their careers.

Face it dickhead....you use AA as a weapon, for your own personal axe grinding resentment.

Quint uses it to stay sober. You should try it.

12.—And finally, we of Alcoholics Anonymous believe that the principle of anonymity has an immense spiritual significance. It reminds us that we are to place principles before personalities; that we are actually to practice a genuine humility. This to the end that our great blessings may never spoil us; that we shall forever live in thankful contemplation of Him who presides over us all.

Or you can do as you and Mr Quint do. Make your own traditions. LOL

.....................................

You do so all the time, like right now on this thread.

Principals before personalities...???? Don't make me el oh el. You have zero principals as indexed to AA; a disgrace to the rich tradition of AA.

I'm done with you. Any furtherance of this discussion only serves your personal agenda, and is not conducive to any semblance of sober thinking.

Good bye dry drunk.

Don't drink....go to meetings....call your sponsor....stab a brother in the back and libel him on public forums, uh wait...never mind.

Maybe the driver should have watched this first. Too late now

Hospital Bob

What makes this one so remarkable is that not a single vehicle stops to offer help. They all just keep going.

And you hear the car radio playing for the whole thing. Before and after.

Hospital Bob

Hospital Bob

One thing to think about. If you're the driver who is hit in that wreck when the car bounces off the guardrail, even though you had nothing to do with causing the wreck, if you've had only enough alcohol to register over the limit, and they smell it on you and give you a breathalyzer, then they're gonna want to pin the wreck on you too.
So no matter how good a driver you are when you've been drinking, there is always the chance that someone else will hit you and then you're screwed.

About the "road rager" video. I don't get what set him off. All we see is his blue car passing the vehicle with the dashcam in it. Was it because the road rager thought the dashcam vehicle was going too slow or what?
That is so bizarre it makes my head hurt.

Hospital Bob

Whatever bizzarity it was, that right there is one of the reasons why I have a gun in my glove compartment.

Hospital Bob

Or maybe when the blue car passed the dashcam car, the dashcam driver shot the bird at the blue car driver. Or maybe taunted him with profanities.
Although of course that doesn't justify the road rager doing what he did, but there must be something happening there that we aint seeing. Because if there are lunatics who will jump out of cars and go to beating on us for no reason, then from now on that gun is coming out of my glove compartment as soon as I see the guy getting out of his car.

Looks like they are Roousans of some type. I dont think it takes much to set them off.

Hospital Bob

If something like that happened here I wonder if "the law" would be on the side of the guy who jumps out of his car and points a gun at the lunatic?
Or would "the law" go after him too?

I think there might be a slight difference between the two scenarios.

In one incident you've got a guy sitting in his car when a lunatic stops and runs back and goes to beating on him. And then the lunatic goes back to his car for a pipe and is coming back to finish the job.

And in the second incident, you've got a crazed redneck who chases a pickup for 40 minutes and then pulls the driver out and goes to beating on him.

My "law" would charge both the lunatic and the redneck with attempted murder. And if either the lunatic or the redneck gets blown away at the scene, then society is better off for it.
