I signed it but as for this congress doing anything so reasonable I am not holding my breath. States and even cities are raising the minimum wage on their own, Seattle, Portland, etc. have already recognized that this is good policy.

Give America a Raise. Henry Ford was right about one thing. Pay your workers enough and they will buy the product you are making. Still true.

Even my Socialist/Communist good friend Wordsling knows it will do no good but put more people out of work and on the government dole. For which Wordslinger cheers!

Wordslinger even knows how FEW people it affects but so long as it hurts anyone, he is THRILLED!

How much is someone worth to an employer if they cannot spell, cannot do simple arithmetic, have not graduated from high school, have no work ethic and no skills?

Come on Progressives, how many households are dependent on one minimum wage income?

How much is someone worth to an employer if they cannot spell, cannot do simple arithmetic, have not graduated from high school, have no work ethic and no skills?

Come on Progressives, show us all what you've got!

What is the typical income of a household where at least one worker is earning minimum wage?

Come on now, step up or people are going to know how uninformed you are!

Herr Markle blushes at the thought of millions of Americans earning minimum wages at part time jobs, and forced to take foodstamps to get by.

Like many thousands of workers for Walmart -- one of the Robber Barons Herr Markle works for ...

Okay, we understand you hate immigrants. But your idea that most of the people receiving minimum wages are foreignors who don't speak English or have any job skills is as absurd as your advocating that big American companies should keep their profits over seas instead of paying taxes that would cut the deficit. Again, I hate Amerika Inc. and you hate american workers. Reality!!!

Herr Markle's racism is showing. Note the worker appears to be white and the kid on the stoop is black. What more needs to be said? Herr Markle admits his racism!

Where did I mention immigrants? Never. Guess that's your own prejudice.

This is such a nutty poster for several reasons. First it implies or overlooks the fact that high income earners (no doubt about it) vote for their own best interests. They spend their money supporting candidates who will pass laws that benefit their business and financial interests and they have their own personal resources with which to support their candidates.

The working poor only have their votes. They have no money to give to campaigns. It is my experience that in the past (before the government was basically taken over by corporate interests) the government and laws were the only things standing between regular people and a life of serfdom which is the end result of unfettered capitalism.

Still, even in its current mainly corporate dominated form, actions from governments on every level, not just the federal level, are the last best hope for those of us who lack large sums of money to donate to campaigns for people who will stick up for our interests.

I think this is a sickening poster. Actually the icon of the person sitting on his front stoop is probably a bad image in that he is probably an ex-con who has no voting rights in many states so he can't vote anyway!

The problem with not raising the minimum wage is that worker productivity has gone up over the years but wages have remained stagnant.

Productivity has increased due to far, far more work being done by "robots" and other mechanical production. Even you know that is true. In addition, as you know, much of the construction and assembly is being done in other countries.

If a worker is doing exactly the same thing they were 30 years ago, why should the worker earn more, relatively, than they do today? Doesn't it PROVE that increasing the minimum wage has done nothing?

Take note that after I slammed him for his bigoted statement, he modified it here.  What he said originally was:  "What does someone who cannot speak proper English, even as their first language, cannot do simple arithmetic, have NO skills, no work ethic and has never had a job worth to an employer?

The original version targets illegal immigrants, whom Herr Markle knows represents but a small portion of Americans who work for a minimum wage.

Herr Markle modified the statement here hoping his reputation for bigotry would "Just go away".

More lies from my good friend and Socialist/Communist Wordslinger. As he well knows, but has nothing so he's making up lies about what I posted. Sheer desperation.

You keep avoiding the simple questions Wordslinger. Why?

Tell us the percentage of households that depend solely on a worker earning minimum wage.

Tell us what the typical annual income is of a household where at least one worker earns minimum wage.

Try telling that to the CEO's! You think they want to earn what the job paid 30 years ago, really?

I have seen quite a few real estate professionals which fit that criteria.....and they seem to make a living.

I said relatively, I take it that is not clear to you.  That means adjusting for inflation.  That is what is demonstrated here.

Nominal Income

Nominal income is essentially income as it shows up based on simple calculations, the income amount that can be counted on based on the preliminary analysis of a project. For instance, if $100,000 invested is expected to create returns of 3 percent, then the nominal income received from the investment will be $3,000, no strings attached. This makes viewing investment income and other future profits simple and easy for everyone involved to understand.

Real Income

Many times managers are interested not in the numeric value of the return -- what it shows on paper as the profit made -- but in what the return will generate in terms of buying power, how useful the future returns will be based on what can be done with the money. If investments existed in a vacuum, then the nominal income amount would still work, but the income is actually influenced by many different economic motivators. These factors are taken into account to create a real income amount, a more practical amount of money that has real meaning in present-day analysis.

I spoke the truth. You cannot slander when you speak the truth. A monkey can get a sales license. If you are a pretty blonde with a big pink car and signs all over which say......I never finished high school......I never went to college.......I do not know anything.......but I can tell you that the kitchen is beautiful, and it has a new roof........and I get paid for this.

About 10% of real estate professionals are intelligent, and when one talks about changing the laws to allow house showing by minimal wage folks, open houses, the squeal from the monopoly is too funny. Give me a minimum wage house sitter, and a good real estate attorney, and eliminate the billions wasted on folks who barely can write a sentence, and maybe we can quit this illusion that for those billions there is any service connected to the same. Now Mr. Markle is obviously part of the 10%, but he has admitted teaching these minimum wage qualified folks so he must know what I am talking about.....dumbest profession next to barbers and hairdressers who at least are good with rumors.

You know very well what you did, and you did it on purpose and directed it at markle because you know his profession. This is a very good back up though.

BTW, I think the dumbest profession is not having one.  Razz

Profound......sure you do not have a real estate license. I remember taking my broker test. I am at a university where they had a packed hall full of people all uptight about the test. It was about 1983 and it had about a hundred multiple choice and about 15 closing workout questions where you had to answer number questions on a closing. You were given 2 hours to take the test. I get to the fifty minute mark of the test and am I first to stand up in this crowed lecture hall at the University, and the person sitting next to me as I am getting up......"are you giving up".......no, I am done.......his response was......."oh chit".......about the easiest test I had every taken as I cruised through the multiple choice and when it came to the work out you could answer 10 of the 15 questions in your head in about five minutes. The other five questions would take about a half hour to go through silly gymnastics.......I picked the most logical and got up knowing that I probably was 90% or higher.

Now in one business I own I had to take a test for the Department of Public Health. It was for a waste hauling license. You know the guys that drive the pumper trucks full of chit.....well they need to take a test to get a license from the department of public health. Now that was a hard test. It had chemistry, math, and more complex calculations than my broker's test. I can say this without hesitation that the person pumping out a porta john in most cases is usually smarter than most people who possess a real estate license. I called the head of the Public health department and complained that I had passed the test, but the test was unfair because most of the questions dealt with land application when most waste haulers take the waste to municipal sewer facilities and do not apply it to the land. I saw people not getting work who were intelligent and hard working because of a flawed test, and in another profession a trained monkey could pass the test as their incompetence flooded the market in the 80s90s and early 2000s........Oh a sidenote.......the Public Health folks created a bifurcated license, and those who did land treatment took the more difficult test and those who were basically pumpers took a reasonable test......a good day for the good guys.......and I am the only one on this forum who has a license to BS.
