actually there was a tornado in naples last night. its been rainy all day and night so far, some tiny gust. the waves are supposed to be 5 -6 feet inland, thats big for here.

i saw in the middle of the night it went to a hurricain 1? or they expect it too. i dont think its going to be bad one, just rain. you guys have had so much rain latly and i know how the run off systems are there I thought its gonna be flooded again.

right now the alligators are happy for the water and the knats are dead on top of the pool and i cant go fishin so ill just sit around and watch movies or play with yall, read, eat ya know. typical in door stuff.

have a good one today.

The spaghetti models are all over the board. I guess I'll batten things down a bit before I head back to Hoover.

I hope it does enough damage whereas we qualify for some MRE's. They projected 1-3" of rain. I hope the Panton Leslie house doesnt get flooded again due to that "valued engineering" maritime park retention pond.

Thanks, man. I take a pain pill because driving kills my back and we put on an audiobook and it is usually a pleasurable drive. Audiobooks really seem to shorten the drive.

I think you can get fresh ones online. If you're gonna put them up for a rainy day, you might want to consider fresh ones if you can get them. From what i read, they start losing their taste after ten or fifteen years.

I'll check it out. We like sci-fi, fantasy, action thrillers, etc. Ann Mccaffrey, Stephen King, Clive Cussler, and Dean Koontz come to mind. We're currently listening to Karen Marie Moning's "Fever" series.

I also download from our library, but usually check out audiobooks from the library, rip 'em to MP3s. The library has a much larger selection than what I can get online. Our Hondas have slots where we can plug in a memory chip and play the books from the chip. No fumbling with CDs, skips, etc.

The NHC track forecast cone has shifted eastward since yesterday. And right now Debby is still moving NE.
Those forecast track models are so much in disagreement that it's almost goofy.

Sorry about getting off-topic... ADD, I guess.

I see that the edge of the storm is over Fort Walton and getting closer to P'cola. Yikes!

Hey monkey, if I were you, I would check the production date that is stamped on the MRE. The shelf life for MREs is only 7 years(dependent upon storage temperature) and if I remember correctly Ivan happened in 2004.

I'm worried.

I remember when one of the hurricanes in 1995 - Erin or Opal, can't recall which - was supposed to go to Louisiana.

When we went to bed at 2200, the storm was a Cat 1. When we awoke at 0600, it was a Cat 4 and heading straight for Pensacola.

I hadn't made arrangements for my dog, and I ended up taking to dog to work with me. I hid her all day. She was old at the time, so she didn't even make a whimper.

Now, I have five souls other than hubby and myself to consider, so I'm sweating this one. We'll probably end up riding it out in our house. Our house is 90 years old, so it's been through tons of hurricanes, but it's still frightening.

PB, please don't sweat this one out. I know your experience thru Erin or Opal back in 1995 must have been very difficult for you. Just try to have positive thoughts and be prepared, but not scared. :-)

Joani, we'll be bringing three dogs, two cats, several large bottles of water and a ton of pet food. We'll donate one pack of hot dogs to the human cause.

What time does your shelter open?

Thanks so much for your reassuring words, Az. I think I still have PTSD from Ivan (and the recovery from Ivan), so I do tend to worry when there's no need to do so.

I have a good friend who is waaaay worse than me when it comes to storm PTSD. She truly needs a valium lick when dealing with hurricanes. My friend's name is Debbie. I hope she's not due for any bad karma.... What a Face

The FREE ones taste better. I see where BP has posted that high winds have destroyed a local home.

I want specifically the military MRE's. I have my reasons.

I know pcola peeps have plenty around and Id like to get my hands on a couple cases. The civilian MRE's are not the same. Im very familiar with those.

on subject. is it raining there yet?

its blustery here still and im stuck in the house with my family watching a freaking movie about a liberal mother and a conservative daughter who has to move back home. Its the full frontal lobe of propaganda with Americas favorite traitor jane fonda.. ug
