Your granddaughter is beautiful.

We are a bit worried. Her mother also was a beautiful girl, but we had her playing sports in first grade. She learned teamwork, and had zero interest in cheerleading and boyz. My sil has not spent much time with the girls, and my daughter with her new position as corporate counsel for one of the largest cities in Illinois is swamped, but does do girl scouts. I believe that extra energy which pulls her blouse down to expose her shoulder, needs to be redirected from how do I look, to what can I do. I would give anything to coach her fifth grade team next year, but I will be dead by thanksgiving. Beauty is a double edged sword. She will need to learn humility, kindness, and that her self worth is not in superficial beauty, but what is in her heart. To that end, I have guided this child for nine years and we have a special bond......I just wish I had more time.

You have guided her to be confident and self assured. She will learn from your guidance.

If you've guided her for nine years -- including her formative ones -- rest assured you've planted some healthy seeds of good character. She won't forget.

We are going to try the casino hotel tonight. I am way overdue for a beating at the gaming tables as I have won the last five times, and some sizeable amounts. I now have a casino host who has been assigned to me as a vip. I mean I am getting a 125 a night room for free, sixty bucks toward a steak dinner, and they give me a fifty dollar free roll, and for the last ten years I have not played the carnival games because I was better at poker. I am not a very good poker player anymore. I will try to play poker tonight, but my wife will be wheel me around in a wheelchair. The funny thing is my card rating at other casinos like Harrah are not the highest diamond rating. My rating at biloxi is really low.

What I have noticed is people are not playing in the casinos. Illinois allowed slot machines in restaurants and bars and it has put a big hurt on the Illinois casinos which have been in existence for 25 years. My wife enjoys the short trips as she is able to get out with me. She now sits with me when I am playing and massages my back. The sad looks from the pit and dealers as they watch my decline is hard. There were tears in the pit bosses eyes when we left last time, not because I had won a thousand, but they are watching me die, and have been watching me for three years. I get to know about their kids and the things which make them happy, and I tip more than anybody at the table. My wife and I are getting where we leave ten bucks in the envelope for the room cleaning. When we arrive we always get smiles from the folks who clean the rooms. The money never meant a thing to me....it was always about competition and sharing fun with people you might not otherwise talk to.....and it is really fun to leave a thirty percent tip when the casino is paying for the meal......I appreciate service people since I was a busboy, dishwasher, and bartender......I hope I can hold my emotions this visit as some of the dealers are not handling this well.

Best of luck..!! I'm playing a big tournament Saturday and they comped a room for me. I was almost surprised because all i do is play poker tournaments. But i asked and they were cool with it. I've won or chopped for first 7 times since June here... so a pretty good summer season. I plan on drinking beer and having a good time... which is bad news for the competition... lol.

Very sorry here, too, Sea. It has to be unbelievably hard on you to be going through all this.

Decline is remarkable. My wife broke her toe in the hotel room on a couch. Her entire foot turned purple and she could not walk. Problem when she is pushing me in a wheelchair. We literally laughed until we cried as we were afraid that she would have to sit in the wheelchair and I would use it as a walker as we tried to get our suitcase to the vehicle. Fortunately, she was able to walk in the morning. Even in the darkest hour, there is always humor.

Funny, yeah. But you say she broke her toe...sooo....you had it examined and treated, I hope?

Joannie got it right. I was playing football when I tried to intercept a pass at the sideline and I was going full speed. I never saw the telephone pole. Broke a few ribs, and ripped the toenails off my first three toes as I broke all three. The doctor at ER just popped them back in place with a yank, but it took six months to heal on the toenails.....what a mess. Her entire foot is black and blue, but the toe she believes is already set when she first walked after hitting the couch. So it will be about a week of soreness, and one more Mrs. Seaoat toughing it out. The laughs we had brought tears to our eyes. We probably are a bit more tilted than the average couple.

So glad to see you continuing to post Mr. Oats, I confess I grimace now when I visit our forum fearing the worse and hoping against hope but I smile openly reading your insights your humor and your journey.

Ouch on the football injury.  Well, at least you went to the ER to be sure.   It was Mrs. Sea's "entire foot turned purple" thing that gave me pause, but obviously it's your/her call.

As for being "more tilted," perhaps, but it's probably part of what will make you, as a couple, legendary in the family for years to come.  I agree with knot that your brand of somewhat irreverent humor produces smiles here as well.  (Also confess I feel knot's same trepidation -- pretty much every day now -- when opening the General section of this forum.)

Sorry to hear that. I came in 5th... which was in the money but disappointing to me. I had qq busted 3 times... aa once... and kk was beat by A3 to finish me off at the final table. I think that's it for me this year.

If you ever noticed, there are a lot of sick and old people in a casino. They are grasping for just a little bit of excitement and youth as going home they are faced with a rather depressing series of senior issues. If I die next week, I am probably up 25k in my poker winnings in the last decade. So, I can lose five thousand in a year playing poker, and the next year win thirteen thousand. This is the first year in twenty years that I did not get a 1099 for tournament wins or big table wins. I take that back.....one fifteen hundred win, I did get a 1099, but I am up a couple thousand this year. If it was about the money, I could afford playing much much higher stakes, but I am making five and ten dollar bets, when in my younger days twenty five was standard. It simply is recreation now. I am craving human contact as I am a very social person, but the cancer has got so bad, that I am not even talking at the tables anymore........tick tock. It is getting so tiring even to type. I guess Bob will finally start seeing me post short posts.....no more seaoation threads.......

I hate that it's so hard for you now. Since i can't compete at tennis anymore i just needed an outlet this year. I don't play any other games at casinos. I don't even play cash game poker... just tournaments. I won't even say how much i won this year... but it was pretty good. i didn't need the money... just the competition.

(Also confess I feel knot's same trepidation -- pretty much every day now -- when opening the General section of this forum.)

I have discussed this issue with my wife during the last three weeks. We decided to keep it real with family and friends and not spin it. I have filtered my posts now because I know my pain causes others pain......so I try to keep it real over the last ten years, but this simply is a bit too messy. I know how crazy sad I got with Bob's rapid decline, but I was happy he kept us posted until he no longer could. So I will try to avoid the pain comments.

Sea, there was absolutely no need for you to defend yourself.  That's precisely why I used a WINKY emoji (didn't you see it??).   I was strictly kidding you.  I have NEVER been one to begrudge someone well off from spending his/her money any way they see fit.

I'm sorry you took my comment as criticism.  It was intended to be like, "Hey, send some of that money my way, why don'tcha?"  In other words: JUST KIDDING.  I guess I need to be way more careful these days.

There is absolutely no need to avoid expressing your pain or describing other symptoms here.  Keeping it real is a good thing between friends.  The trepidation that I (and, I feel pretty certain) knothead were referring to was the fear that we would open the Forum one day and find a message from Mrs. Sea that you were gone.   That's a perfectly natural concern but doesn't mean we won't keep coming  back to appreciate your posts the same as you (and we all) did Bob's.  It  just means we (again, naturally) dread the day when we lose you for good. Understood?

Exactly. And I failed to say that Sea's journey, in all its difficult detail, has been educational on many levels, and I feel certain he'd be good with that.

Well taking showers independently, may be coming to an end. I almost collapsed with weakness, but got back to my chair. Yesterday, I became extremely weak returning from the bathroom. They said I would not be able to get out of bed at the end.......that is rapidly coming.
