What recovery?
George Will tonight exposed the Obama administration’s failed economic record.
He nailed it.“The recession began in December 2007. Since then we’ve added 13 million more Americans are in the country and we have 1.3 million fewer jobs. We’ve lowered the unemployment largely, not entirely, but largely because workforce participation rate has gone down as more and more workers have been discouraged and are no longer count any more because they’re no longer looking for work. If the workforce participation rate today were as high as it was when the recession began the unemployment rate would be 11.3%. We wouldn’t be calling it a poor recovery because it wouldn’t count as a recovery at all.”



George is right.
The employment-population ratio the last twenty years has bottomed out during the Obama years — that is, the percentage of Americans above age 16 who work for a living.

Total nonfarm jobs in January 2009: 131,627,000
Total nonfarm jobs in November 2013: 137,942,000

Unless my math fails me, it appears that there are over 6 million more jobs in today than there were when Obama took office.  By saying "since 2007", he's including millions of jobs that were lost during the Bush administration.  

Thought I would add that for the numerate people who read this forum.

But to answer your question:

People employed part-time due to economic reasons in January 2009: 8,042
People employed part-time due to economic reasons in November 2013: 7,719

(the number of people working part-time for economic reason has declined)

Multiple job holders in January 2009: 7,258
Multiple job holders in November 2013: 6,973

(the number of multiple job holders has declined as well)

No... the only thing different domestically would likely have been no massive entitlement passed. It's still hard to believe that was passed at that time... that given the economic downturn that is what obama spent his political capital on. Even given that capital... he had to misrepresent everything from the savings to the underlying intent to the repercussions... and even then use underhanded tactics to garner the congressional support. But other than that little tidbit... no not much difference in reality.

Unless we had elected Ron Paul. But obama is the anti-rp... how you can support him makes no sense to me.

Yes, Markle.  Everyone is more than familiar with the labor force participation rate.  So that we compare apples to apples, let's look at the unemployment rate when calculated by the republican dooms day scenario.

Sure, the rate of unemployment is trickling down as fewer and fewer people are counted as being unemployed.  Count the people who have quite looking, the number working before the 2008 recession and we would have an 11.3% unemployment rate today.

Are you forgetting the record number of people below the poverty level and the record number of people on food stamps?

Look at the precipitous drop just before Obama took office...and, yes, we would expect that drop to continue into Obama's administration...the inevitable result of the Bush tax cuts, the two ongoing wars, the lack of regulation in the financial sector, the bank bailouts, etc. That chart could not be more damning of the Bush years. And George Will is a pseudo-intellectual.

The desperation on Mr. Markle's handlers is becoming more obvious by the content of the cut and paste. George Will is a guy I have utter respect, but the numbers as boards has correctly posted cannot be seriously challenged by anybody finishing a high school economics class, but in their desperation they are appealing to the low fruit on the tree who live with a generalized hate of the black man in the Oval office.......good news is that the debate is completely counter productive for the 2016 election, and they are not smart enough to understand how stupid this campaign is..........but I will never step in to stop stupid from imploding.
