Among the many lies we've received from President Obama and his administration, is the one we got last year when the president declared that ALL our troops would be out of Afghanistan by 2014.

Today, it appears, Kerry has cemented a deal with Karzai for our troops to remain in Afghanistan for eleven more years.

That's eleven more years of wasting American lives and money to that Amerika's MIC continues its profit taking.

And we continue to pay the costs of disabled and homeless vets and PTSD sufferers. And the costs to maintain our presence in Afghanistan are deducted from us investing in infrastructure repair, creating jobs, medical research, seniors, education, etc.

Wanna do something about it? Tell Boeing and Northrup Grumman to go fuck themselves!!

Screw Washington DC and Screw Amerika Inc!!

First McCain says we need to occupy Iraq for a 100 more years, and now Obama says we need to occupy Afghanistan for 24 more years.
I just wish somebody would occupy Brownsville for a change.

The tow truck driver arrives at the accident scene. The driver and his friends had been drinking and made some bad decisions and drove the car off the road into a bayou. The tow truck driver sets up for the extraction, and begins having some difficulty getting it out in a timely manner. He may need another truck, or maybe stronger cable.

The driver and his buddies were able to save a case of beer from the vehicle before it started sinking......as they sit around guzzling their premium beer, in concert they scream at the tow truck driver.......you are a liar, incompetent, and guilty of towing crimes.

The utter absurdity of so many people being experts on pulling the vehicle from the bayou, or the idea that the tow truck driver is conspiring to not pull it out because he can share part of the tow fee for a second truck, makes one wonder if they are observing the circle jerk which got the car in the bayou in the first place, and from who the loudest criticism of the tow truck driver can be heard.

The problem with your analogy is the car did not get stuck in Bayou Chico.
It got stuck in Afghanistan.  It got stuck there because the american government (democrat and republican) wants to be in that country for 36 years (12 + 24)

Please define wants to be there? Is it 125k troops? Is it simply an embassy? Or is it a combination embassy and 8k troops?

Abstract thinking is one thing, but as one of my heroes Everett Dirkson said you spend a million here and a million there and pretty soon you are talking real money. What is the risk/benefit analysis for the 8k troops, and what are the real costs to this country under alternative options?

The tow truck analogy stands. I believe they are looking for the safest and least costly method of extracting the vehicle without damage to the vehicle, or damage to the bayou......The folks who put the vehicle in the bayou continue to drink and are the cheerleaders for the incompetency of the tow truck driver.

President Barack Hussein Obama failed to secure an agreement for us to remain in Iraq and the country is falling back into a civil war.  Due to President Obama's inexperience and ignorance regarding foreign policy and his hiring of people dumber than himself, all will be wasted.

When Wordslinger believed President Obama would bring Communism to the United States Wordslinger was a flag carrying Obamaite.  Now, not so much.

Republicans and Conservatives TOLD DEMOCRATS AND PROGRESSIVES, that this is exactly what would happen on the foreign scene, with health care and an abysmal economy.

What have they not even built yet on ObamaCare?  HOW TO PAY.

Imagine if ANY private corporation had rolled out such a failed product.  On top of that, President Obama has hired the same people who screwed it up in the first place to "fix" this mess.  IT IS NOT FIXABLE.

For the failure, he had to hire a company from Canada...who had been fired by Canada for not performing the jobs they were hired for in Canada.

You just can't make these things up.  If it were not such a tragedy for our country and our children, it would ALMOST be funny.

Why would we want to "stay in Iraq?" So China could secure even more rights to Iraq's oil?

Geopolitics are rapidly changing. The Middle East is going to matter less and less as Saudi Arabia switches from being an oil exporter to a net oil importer by 2030. Meanwhile, the U.S.'s unconventional oil production continues to climb. For the next several decades, the U.S. and Canada will be the top world oil-producers. I could care less if Iraq falls back into civil war. That was a foregone conclusion long before Barrack Obama became president.

I never thought Obama was a communist. He's certainly pro socialist though, and I have no problem with socialism. Like most Americans, socialism is preferable to fascism ... your favorite Herr Markle. LOL

" socialism is preferable to fascism "

Why? What is there to fascism that you don't like? The pretense of private ownership? I think it was Stalin that called fascism... national socialism. He thght it was basically a short sighted ideology. He called communism... global socialism. But both had designs to conquer and grow... so I don't know that it was a fair comparison. Hitler thght fascism was simply the socialism of the individual... that if the individual was controlled... there was really no need to take ownership of their property. But we know of course that the nazis did confiscate, restrict, and dictate.

I don't really find the differences striking... and think that what we have here is closer to classic fascism if I had to pick one.

The Bush neo-cons lied us into the damn war, there is no doubt about that. The problem now is there is no good solution only bad and worse choices.

The bottom line is the cultural mindset of the people in Afghanistan. If they wanted to fight the taliban and al qaeda they could. They just don't have the will to do it. They were once declared to be fierce and determined fighters back when they wanted the Russians out. Now they've turned into pot smoking slackers? You've seen the reports from our military guys who are training these locals?

So, which advice do you go with? Like, don't throw good money [lives] after bad or do you go with the 'cut your losses' point of view? I think we've determined many times on this forum that it wouldn't matter if we stayed five more minutes or 50 more years, the outcome would be the same and that is civil war.

When the original idea was to go into Afghanistan to deny Al qaeda a base of operations I thought that was a supremely poor reason given the none national form the group takes and the fact that they have many other basically lawless areas to gather in.

Works for me and bodes well for a contracting job upon retirement from the military. With my background, experience, clearance and such, I should be able to get six figures and draw my two retirements on top of that.

Not terror but certainly fear is used by the Karl Rove and tea party wings of the R party. fright-wing indeed. Keep things stirred up.

- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

"The debate over Iraq is not about politics. It is about national security. It should be clear that our national security requires Congress to send a clear message to Iraq and the world: America is united in its determination to eliminate forever the threat of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction."
- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

“We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 .

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. That is why the world, through the United Nations Security Council, has spoken with one voice, demanding that Iraq disclose its weapons programs and disarm. So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but it is not new. It has been with us since the end of the Persian Gulf War."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
"  (Currently President Barack Hussein Obama’s Secretary of State)

I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons...I saw evidence back in 1998 when we would see the inspectors being barred from gaining entry into a warehouse for three hours with trucks rolling up and then moving those trucks out."
- Clinton's Secretary of Defense William Cohen in April of 2003

"Saddam is gone and good riddance," former President Bill Clinton said yesterday, but he urged President Bush to resist trying to get even with nations that opposed the war.

"There are German and French soldiers in Afghanistan today. Does the President want them to come home?" Clinton said at a Manhattan forum on corporate integrity.

He praised Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for their handling of the war, but said Bush should have waited longer before attacking for the "chance that either [Saddam Hussein] would have disarmed or . . . we would have had far more members of the Security Council with us."

Clinton also said Bush should not be faulted if banned weapons of mass destruction aren't found.

"I don't think you can criticize the President for trying to act on the belief that they have a substantial amount of chemical and biological stock. . . . That is what I was always told," Clinton said.

-  Former President Clinton Wednesday, April 16, 2003

"Could Be One of the Great Achievements of This Administration" The vice president said he’d been to Iraq 17 times and visits the country every three months or so. "I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society" he said. "It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences."

- Vice President Joe Biden (D) Feb. 10, 2010

How has the war President Barack Hussein Obama said we SHOULD have been fighting going?  How is the Middle East going now that President Obama is President?  Oh, Afghanistan just crossed 2,000 American fatalities.  Seventy percent of whom died since President Obama took office.

And now the Obama administration wants to TAKE CREDIT for the Iraq war…whew….

Some don't want to acknowledge the truth.....they would rather blame Bush and believe Bush lied us into the war.

It's as if these people weren't alive a dozen years ago. All saddam had to do was comply w the UN terms to which he agreed.

I'm not happy that we went in there... but the revision is self-inflicted delusion. Talking points are not memories.
