My guess is a particular poster insulted him so badly that he lost interest in posting.
A person who's become a friend of mine who is a regular poster just told me that's why he canceled his account too.

I noticed that doubtingthomas is a *"guest". Boards said that he cancelled his account.
It's hard to imagine anything that would get to Seaoat so much that he'd stop posting.

Poker cheat who wore infrared contact lenses gets jail
A French court has handed down a two-year jail sentence to a self-described Italian "cheat" who wore infrared contact lenses to count cards marked with invisible ink.
Stefano Ampollini won more than $120,000 from Les Princes casino in Cannes before being caught in October 2011, The Daily Telegraph reported. Besides prison, he was fined nearly $135,000 on Wednesday.
Prison terms and fines were also handed down to two Italian cohorts, including the alleged mastermind who was described as an elegant "professional cheat."
"This is the first time this sort of technique has been seen in Europe," said Marc Concas, a lawyer for the casino owner.
The 56-year-old Ampollini — who described himself as a "cheat of international renown" — told the judge he bought the special lenses online from China and has given other pairs to "friends."
Two corrupt casino workers gave the cheaters decks of card, which were then marked with invisible ink, resealed and returned to the cupboard.
Ampollini was assisted at the stud poker table by an accomplice whose sniffs and snorts guided the selection of cards.
His initial $95,000 winning streak attracted the attention of casino security because "he won very easily" and twice folded with excellent hands, "suggesting he knew the croupier's cards," Concas said. An investigation was begun, and he was arrested after returning alone and winning $28,000.
The Telegraph did not say whether the corrupt casino workers were prosecuted.

well if it was me who ran him off, his skin got thin.
Yes, I gave him a hard time, he ask and wanted a hard time.
But if you go back through this forum he would see I have been very kind and concerned for him for a very long time.
I like to play ruff sometimes, in a playful kind of way. But I really at this point don't want to scratch any eyes out, just leave a few nicks.

For me, it is my sincere hope that first and foremost he is okay and busy living the remainder of his life. Secondly, Mr. Oats, at least in my view, represents what this forum is supposed to be about . . . thought provoking. Those of you making snarky remarks towards him personally tears you down and I hope I have misinterpreted the comments but could we please show some compassion . . . . some understanding . . . . . Bob, Neko, Teo, Joani . . . . . everyone . . . . . you guys are better than this . . . . so I ask all to collectively hope that he is sitting at a poker table with his hoodie and sunglasses and be glad when he returns . . . . . just sayin'

Knot, I guess you missed it all the times when Seaoat's not been so diplomatic on here. He is not always sweet. He can and does attack others. He's no innocent. But I like Seaoat and I would miss him if he stopped posting. I hope he's well and having a good time somewhere this week. But let's not put him up on some pedestal.
