Might as well ban selling ice cream and candy to kids too.

Should fast food restaurants be allowed to market their products to children?
Nekochan wrote:I agree...comparing happy meals to cigarettes is over the top. This is a parent's decision. I support the ban on selling cigarettes to underage teens. But 5 year olds don't buy cigarettes and they don't buy happy meals. And a happy meal once in a while isn't going to hurt a kid.

That kid, with the very large fries and large coke is not eating a happy meal!Sir Loin wrote:boards of FL wrote:Yep. What can we do? It's the parents decision! I think McDonald's should start making baby food as well!
They could call it the Unhappy Meal.

Well then this photo depicts an optimal society then, doesn't it?
(still continuing to miss the point)

When did it become the job of the government and corporations to determine what your child eats or does not eat? What is the job of the parents?
When I was growing up it was never ever a debate about what I was eating for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I ate what was put in front of me. Which also explains why I eat a lot of foods many people find...different...plus everything they like. It's all about moderation.

Unfortunately many of today's children are being sent to school without a breakfast of any kind. Some are not even properly clothed for the weather. When the parents can't or won't give proper care to their children, the government steps in. I also ate whatever was put in front of me, and sometimes it was squirrel, rabbit, pigeon or deer.

Gluttony is also promoted and praised by Eating contests. Monstrous amount of food to be consumed with in a time frame. IE The 30 dollar "Battleship" sandwich promotion that is offered at the Ball Park.
Children are very observant and emulate their peers.
Poor people are very aware of their situation and many times feel the pain it causes their children. As a result they try to compensate with the one thing they can afford, cheap food. Not a good choice, but poor people have poor ways. On the other end of the spectrum are those who can afford to buy and eat anything, so they do. They say "It is my right. I can eat anything I choose!!" Damn you if you think I cant."The nations health is showing the folly of such thinking.

I want to serve my child a glass of gasoline. No government can stand between me and my choice of liquids to serve my child, right? No matter how completely asinine my choices are, I can do whatever I want with my child. Right, Markle? Is that your belief?

So then if there were some public vote on whether or not cigarettes can be marketed to kids by the big manufacturers and served to kids by their parents, you would support big tobacco and parental-approved smoking by minors?
Of course not. But, go ahead and impress us all with your circular logic.
