Latest of the prosecution case:
Prosecutor Richard Mantei told a Florida judge Tuesday that the half-dozen calls are central to the prosecution's argument that he committed second-degree murder since it shows his state of mind. Mantei said the calls demonstrate Zimmerman's prior "profiling," and will give jurors context on a "building level of frustration this defendant had" that the suspicious people he reported in his neighborhood were getting away, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
The prosecutor says it shows ill will and provides context to his fatal encounter with 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
It shows to me he was profiling criminals- not blacks. Would they have used those prior calls if the suspicious people were white? Of course not! I'm not sure they helped themselves w/ that because it shows Zimmerman has called many times and never attacked the person.

He was asked if he was scared of Trayvon or something like that. The prosecution is trying to show that Trayvon wasn't acting in a threatening manner that evening, I think.

They are building a foundation. The Skittles, Ice Tea, and button with Martin's baseball(football) picture were all shown by the evidence technician. They are attempting to show him in the most favorable..... child like state......completely non threatening......What bothered me.....what 17 year old kid walks around with a button with their picture on it....seems a bit immature.....kid like.....and that probably was part of the show process with the evidence tech and the clerk. When they close.....that button is going to be in the closing.....very very strange for a 17 year old to be carrying a picture of himself.....they may give us more.....but typical foundational stuff....I am.pleased with the number of witnesses, and how well both sides are handling questions......these folks are pros.

I would strongly disagree. A very professional presentation of the State's case in chief. You would have to understand the legal concept of foundation to understand why these witnesses are necessary.......but I agree speculation is not evidence.

Oh shut up, Seaoat! I understand very well the concept of foundation. You act like you're the only one who knows anything about the legal system which you have no experience in.Showing the clerk wasn't threatened is silly. They're building a false case on speculation and theory and ignoring the fact that Zimmerman had the shit beat out of him. You can easily see how innocent people get convicted in this country.

Now now.......I just disagree....it was all about the skittles and iced tea.....if you do understand the concept of a foundation, you know he needs to put into evidence the reason he was in the neighborhood. They already have the testimony from the other kid about watching tv and playing video games.....all necessary elements to show that he was a kid who walked to the store and got some skittles......now I know if you were on the jury..... you would already have all the facts, but the prosecutor must put his case in chief in.....and that means everything he has done has been necessary......but heck....you knew that......you are just impatient that the prosecutors are just wasting time......no case....no purpose.....I understand your frustration, and perspective.
