So how much do you really expect to draw from SS when retired?

Being as I have a decade and a half to go before I get mine, I'm thinking that I'll be getting about 1/2 to 2/3 of what my statement says I will get. I say this because Congress won't fix the SS issue and I assess that there will be a time when they send everyone a letter and explain why they aren't going to get the full amount promised.

I pity the poor fool who has to wait a decade and a half. I started getting mine two years ago and I don't expect to be getting anything in a decade and a half.

The cuts to Social Security will occur while Baby Boomers are drawing it. I think it will happen by 2025.

There will be a lot of partisan blame for the failure of the system and lots of finger pointing; however, the blame will belong to everyone.

The best thing any Boomer can do is to get themselves out of debt. I am already there, and I have told the wife we are staying debt-free from here on out.

Unfortunately, you and I do have one debt. Which of course is the $52,000 per capita we now all have in federal debt.
So at this point, you and your wife have a debt of $104,000 and I have a debt of $52,000. And of course that's the debt you've incurred right now.
Who knows what that figure will be in the future.

But Sal and Paul Krugman say that debt is nothing to worry about. That it's just a bunch of phony baloney right-wing bullshit which means nothing.
Lord knows I hope and pray deep down in my soul they're right.
Since merkel says I'm a "far-left liberal progressive" I should have no problem believing what these fellow far-left liberal progressives are saying.
But somehow my far-left liberal progressive genes are still having trouble with it. lol

Sounds like you need to have enough saved up to pay your fair share or be more vocal in your arguments against government spending.

I have been drawing for about 5 years. They paid what I figured on. I think I have received 2 small raises in the last 5 years so I would have to say 105% of what I thought I would receive on a monthly basis. Looks like I might get back what I put in, then some. All is good........ The check is in the mail on the other little debt.
