SO, I'm saying that none of them are doing their jobs.

The Sandy victims will get their relief and Florida will get relief if a hurricane hits next year....but the process of getting the relief is all political.

That is fair...if it is crap, you amend and send it back to the senate. Are you telling me that out of 200 some congressmen and women and probably a thousand staff nobody could have drafted an amendment which the house could have passed taking out what they believed was non essential spending? Harry Reid kept the senate on call just in case of an amendment on the cliff.....this was mean spirited and hurtful to victims.....more importantly it sent a clear regional message.....it was received.....and now next year as we approach hurricane season.....well......

How was it mean spirited?

Did anyone there have money taken out of thier pocket? NO THEY DID NOT. FEMA has not run out of money. WHY DO YOU IGNORE THIS FACT?

WHY did they have to pass this bill the same day we got the other shitty assed bill?

No reason but POLITICS.

Mean spirited because many think the bipartisan cooperation to take care of victims of this storm lost the election for the Republicans......this is as clear of a retaliation by the T party toward the Governor of NJ, but more importantly any old line Republican leadership........message sent....message received.....there is a civil war going on in the Republican party.....and we will win.

PLease answer the question from the above post?

I am not entirely clear what question....I assume mean spirited.....that is simple John promised an up or down vote on this issue......there was no vote....it would have passed.....but he did not put the bill on the floor, but worse....did not even have an amendment in mind when he promised an up and down vote.....liars and mean spirited....period.

I'll tell you this. This was the nail in the coffin for the republican party. Americans will not forget these people were left hanging and it is now 66 days. Many of these people do not have jobs now because of the destruction and can't afford to live in motels or have relatives. They have nothing left of their belongings and their homes are unlivable. It must be nice for some nitwit living in Fl. to say they are not broke? How in the hell would here anyone know what these people have? It is beyond mean spirited to say something like that in the wake of this tragedy.

Dreams, the hurricane happened a couple of months ago. If people have been left hanging and have had no place to live since the hurricane, what blame do you put on the Obama Administration?

ZERO There is clarity of where the problem in America lies. The special interests can pour money into primaries where there will be no challenger from the other party and they can own congress. There is a concerted effort by agents and enemies of this nation to cause the Federal government to fail. When Christie says the feds and the President have done a great job trying to assist the folks who have been devastated and now are facing winter.....he was right.....but the President cannot pass the bill in Congress. This has never happened before......this is the Dixiecrat Democrats who call themselves Republicans not even hiding the fact that Republican is a convenient label.....they just hate the union....they hate the North....and they are trying to move forward with a traitors agenda to do nothing to advance the people and the nation. President Obama's fault.....even asking that question exposes how mindless the citizens of this country have become when they fail to recognize the clear and present danger of traitors among us and special interest control of Congress. 2014 cannot get here soon enough for me.....throw the incumbents out.

Well, Seaoat, many if not most liberals blamed Bush for the problems before and after Katrina. If Bush was at fault then so is Obama.

And that's as ridiculous as it gets.

Circular Logic.

This is really strained logic. There were tremendous failings by the Army Corps of engineers and Fema. In Sandy, I am sure there have been shortcomings in the response, but the scale is probably 100 to 1 compared to Sandy.

An example I have given on the PNJ before was the Army corp response on repairing the breached canal. For a solid day I watched dump trucks and helicopter try to close a three hundred yard breached gap in the canal walls. I started throwing things at the TV, and called an engineer who I was actively working with on an Army Corps project. I told him that his people were killing folks and WTF was wrong with them........it is nearly impossible to fill a gap in moving water at that scale, and WTF are they not putting steel pilings at the mouth of the canal to stop the flow of water into the canal. He responded that makes sense he would make some calls and two days later.....almost three days after this should have been done they put an excavator with hydraulic jack on a barge and in a matter of hours sealed both ends of the 60 ' canal and the secondary and totally avoidable flooding was stopped. I am not saying my call made this happen, but it certainly got some other engineers thinking which watching the ass backward response after Katrina was not happening. This was utter incompetence and in that situation the funding of relief for the victims was overshadowed by pure unadulterated incompetence. Congress quickly passed funding for Katrina.

To bring up Bush, or to try to make this about Obama is indicative of how serious the brainwashing has spread in this country and how effectively the dialogue has been corrupted. Sandy and its victims are suffering because of traitors in this country.....we will take our Republican party back and we will expel the traitors lock stock and barrel......may they rot in hell.

FEMA and many relief trucks were stopped at the LA borders and NOT allowed to enter LA airspace.. Planes and choppers from NASP, Whiting and Coast Guard stations were NOT allowed to enter LA air space, then the Democrats blamed Bush.. The gov of LA was the one that refused to let them enter the state, NOT Bush..

The unions refused to allow the non union workers to help with the electrical, plumbing, and other construction trades in NJ and NY following Sandy..

I can never thank the workers that came from other states to help us following Ivan enough for the hours, days, and weeks they worked to help us out but will never excuse the unions and politicians in NJ and NY for turning non-union workers away and not allowing them to help..

I have friends and relatives in both states that saw workers forced to leave because they were not union members..

She should have faced a public trial for manslaughter. In my mind the governor killed people. She had much more culpability than President Bush, and when she stood before the cameras and talked about praying for folks.....if I had been in the room that day, I would still be in jail. No, the response to Katrina at every level was utter incompetence, but even in those failings, our congress acted swiftly to help the victims. The Sandy relief delay is the actions of traitors. If specifics of waste need to be addressed.....well of course amend the Senate bill and debate the unnecessary, but send the bill back to the senate in a timely fashion. To simply promise an up and down vote, and then to lie and allow victims to be left hanging with cold winter conditions.....traitors all.

That is correct. I have 4 people at my work who have family there and my snow bird neighbor lives in NJ.

They are creating this problem into more than it is. they havnt done what they were supposed to do and want to place blame. And they also want to use this crisis to get stuff $$$$$ they would not have had before.

I never blamed Bush. I knew it was the Gov. of Lousiana, Kathleen Blanco, who did that crap. She stopped Bush in his tracks.

Yes and the mayor of New Orleans didn't help either.
But the Federal Government is slow about pretty much everything it does.

Where are your supporters that saw the FEMA trucks and help from NASP and other bases allowed into LA following Katrina?? I worked on NASP and talked with the pilots and crews that were turned away the first few days following Katrina.. I worked with some of them...

Where are your supporters that saw the non union workers welcomed and working their butts off for days and weeks following Sandy??

Not strained logic at all.

Anyway, the House has approved Sandy relief. I guess the Senate will approve it. A relief Bill for Sandy should have been voted for 6 weeks ago. Why wasn't it? It's not just Republicans to blame!

Jake92

Katrina was a small area with lots of illegals and welfare bums where Sandy was along most of the east coast from SC to Maine with millions of taxpayers with cities a LOT bigger than NewOrleans.. I haven't heard story after story about the looting in NJ or NY like there was in New Orleans, but I bet there was some of it going on..

2seaoat

Anyway, the House has approved Sandy relief.

No they did not. The 60 billion bill was not voted on, rather 9 billion was approved as a stop gap so there would not be a collapse of flood relief payments.....the entire Bill still must be passed.....and I have no problem with the Republicans scrubbing the bill of excess that is what they are supposed to do....but when almost 60 members of the house vote against this 9 billion dollar bill.......no these folks are traitors....plain and simple traitors dedicated to destroy our federal system. Now, we have the financial well being of this country being influenced by these terrorist whose only goal is to destabalize this nation, and we are in this all together, but they have convinced people that this destructive behavior is somehow good for this nation.....it is not.

It's so funny to me how everyone wants to demonize me for bringing up Bush (since he's no longer in office, you know, so everything he did is now meaningless...according to some)...but somehow we now HAVE to bring Bush into the discussion because we have to compare his sorry response to Katrina with Obama's performance on Sandy, even though the real question is the FUNDING, which wasn't delayed after Katrina; however, the government's response (admittedly at all levels) WAS delayed due to incompetence by the director of FEMA...and much of the flood damage might not have occurred at all if Bush and the Republican Congress had chosen to property fund repairs to the levees instead of cutting those funds.

The Republicans are playing politics with disaster relief. Does anyone, including Seaoat, care to dispute that? Or shall we just somehow attach blame to Harry Reid?

WTH does that have to do w/ this? What is this tit for tat? How childish? Katrina was years ago.People are hurting now. Stupidass republicans! I'll be gald when their demolished.
