Death on Navarre Causeway

I am so tired of drunk people driving cars. Mandated ignition interlocks.

In this case, though the driver's inebriation may've contributed, it was the woman's idiocy in riding on the exterior of the car that resulted in her death.  That could've happened with the driver stone cold sober.

PB and NB are a magnet during prime season for alcohol stupidity. Ignition interlocks in every new car.

You do realize the woman and her unhurt friend, also inebriated, were riding on the OUTSIDE of the SUV, yes?? The driver didn't have to be drunk for this particular death to have occurred. I'm just saying.

Well actually just the opposite. Would you drive with a couple drunks on your car?

Exactly.

Government does not fix stupid. It should fix cars so they do not start when a driver is impaired. There are many types of impairment, but an ignition interlock simple does not let a car start. This is why the alcohol lobby fights the same tooth and nail, because when drunk people cannot start cars they are stuck staying at their place on Navarre Beach, and not driving with a bunch of drunks. Knowing the typical profile of the summer visitors, somebody can try to jump into the pool from the third floor, and when they miss and die, there will not be an outcry for balcony safety nets, because that kind of stupid does not kill ten thousand people a year who could be saved with ignition interlocks where since their use with repeat offenders has seen the death rate drastically drop.

Stupidity all around.
