Lame Duck President Barack Hussein Obama's weak position on marijuana and hard drugs costs THOUSANDS OF LIVES

CDC: Heroin Deaths Surpassed Firearm-Related Homicides in 2015

by AWR HAWKINS9 Dec 2016

The latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) numbers show heroin deaths surpassed firearm-related homicides for the first time ever in 2015.

The number of heroin deaths was 12,989 and the number of firearm-related homicides was 12,979.

The Washington Post published the CDC numbers, which show the deaths from all opioids combined topped 33,000 in 2015. That means opioid deaths outnumbered firearm-related homicides nearly 3 to 1.

Opioids include heroin and prescription drugs like oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, and oxymorphone.

In November 2015 Breitbart News reported Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) numbers which showed the death rate from all drugs combined–opioid or otherwise–was 46,471 in 2013. For that same year, the death firearm-related death rate–including homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths–was 33,636. So drug-related deaths surpassed all types of gun deaths by nearly 13,000.

Car-related deaths surpassed gun deaths in 2013 as well. There were 33,636 gun-related deaths that year and 35,369 car-related deaths. And Breitbart News reported that Duke University researcher Chris Conover explained that car deaths, when viewed as a percentage, were so much higher than gun deaths that evidence showed that owning a car is “80 percent” riskier than owning a gun.

Some people make terrible decisions... and sadly fail.

It's really none of your business... or the govts. Stop trying to make decisions for people.

It's not ok when leftists do it... and it's not alright when you do it. Neither of you are justified.

I didn't see anything about marijuana in the article, just markie's assertion.

Lame Dork poster Markle is citing from Breitbart.com again.......

10 of Breitbart's most incendiary headlines

http://money.cnn.com/2016/11/14/media/breitbart-incendiary-headlines/index.html

Breitbart is a website noted for publishing incendiary headlines, many of them being outwardly racist, misogynist, and anti-Semitic. Here are just some of the more provocative headlines that have appeared in 2015/2016:

'The solution to online 'harassment' is simple: Women should log off'

'Bill Kristol: Republican spoiler, renegade Jew'

'Trannies whine about hilarious Bruce Jenner billboard'

'Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy'

'Suck it up buttercups: Dangerous Faggot Tour returns to colleges in September'

'Hoist it high and proud: The Confederate flag proclaims a glorious heritage'

'Would you rather your child had feminism or cancer?'

'Gay rights have made us dumber, it's time to get back in the closet'

'Science proves it: Fat-shaming works'

'There's no hiring bias against women in tech, they just suck at interviews'

Markle, please tell us WHY you think birth control makes women unattractive and crazy!

Yeah, it really is my business. When what "you" are doing costs the country billions of dollars and costs tens of thousands of lives, plus all the destruction to families and friends.

So what is your solution to the drug problems in America?  You want to be treated as something other than a worm which crawled out from a pile of BS,......how about giving us your expertise on a suggested solution to addiction problems in America.  However, we all know the answer to your solutions.......

That's right. Marijuana is proving to be the gateway drug many of us know it to be.

Marijuana has become more and more available over the past decade. Coinciding with that has been the dramatic rise in drug deaths.

Those "billions" are spent on prohibition. The deaths are either from the criminal element that arose from the laws created or... again... a person's bad decisions. The same for suffering of the families.

It's just more authoritarian edict under the thin veil of a noble cause... in other words the progressivism you pretend to rail against. Freedom and liberty can be messy... you must accept that if you defend it.

Mr Markle is a pathological liar who has become senile and now is unable to unwrap his thoughts. A few deaths from drug addiction related to drugs versus year after year carnage from alcohol, yet he is clueless about addiction and understanding the complexities to the problem........I guess Colorado is no different than any other state as heroin deaths are up, and legal pot has not reduced the rate of increase of heroin deaths across the nation, but neither has the rate of deaths of innocents from drunk drivers. You see addiction is not solved by criminal statues, rather it continues after wasting literally trillions on a drug war which did not deal with addiction. There are solutions, but liars and shills for big pharm and alcohol have never been the answer as they attack pot use......evil is definable.

The heroin epidemic is the direct result of the pharmaceutical industry's craven flooding of the marketplace with opioids.

When law enforcement began to crack down, addicts turned to heroin.

This has nothing to do with marijuana.

Our country's approach to substance abuse is stupid and counterproductive.

There has been a bit of lie in every forum post he has created for the last 10 years.  That is what propagandists do. However, the latter part of your observation is also becoming evident. He seems to be unable to cover his tracks and is making mistakes that make him appear more foolish than we already know...

B. The Netherlands

Proponents of legalization almost certainly would cite Amsterdam as the drug Mecca of the Western world. Anyone may go into the restaurants in this city and order marijuana and hashish from a menu; further, heroin and cocaine have been decriminalized for all practical purposes. The police simply leave the users alone. Consequently, health officials estimate that Amsterdam has 7,000 addicts, 20% of whom are foreigners.58 These addicts are responsible for 80% of all property crime in the city, thus necessitating that Amsterdam maintain a police presence far greater than those of cities of comparable size in the United States.59

The Dutch have not raised one dollar in tax revenue from drug sales, and drug violators account for 50 percent of the Dutch prison population, a higher proportion than in the United States.60 The Netherlands is the most crime-prone nation in Europe and most drug addicts live on state welfare payments and by committing crimes.61 Nationwide, the number of reported crimes increased to 1.3 million in 1992 from. 812,000 in 1981.62 Faced with public disgust at home over soaring drug related crime and pressure from other
European Community countries to strengthen drug laws, Dutch authorities are implementing an aggressive program to reduce drug-linked crimes and disturbances and show new teeth in combatting illegal drug sales.63 Eberhard van der Laan, leader Of the Social Democrats in the Amsterdam City Council says, "People are absolutely fed up with all the troubles caused by drug addicts - car windows broken, noise, whole streets almost given up to the drug problem."64 Legalization advocates claim that marijuana use in
Netherlands has not increased since the laws were liberalized, but the number of Amsterdam drug cafes rose from 30 to over 300 in one decade. They also fail to note that daily marijuana use by U.S. youth has declined by 75 percent.65

Through October, Colorado has collected more than $150 million in taxes from legal marijuana sales, including nearly $50 million from a specific excise tax that directs funds to school construction projects. The first $40 million collected annually from the excise tax is earmarked for the school projects.

Yep, Markle is right and all the states are wrong.

Netherlands fault for not collecting tax. The addiction was from the other drugs.

When our country invaded Afghanistan in 2001, the Taliban had all but eradicated production of heroin. After the invasion...a different story...and I wonder why heroin use has escalated now, during the election.

I do not drink so getting rid of the beer is fine with me.

I agree, alcohol has terrible effects on some people and has destroyed countless families.

Now please explain how drastically increasing the mood-altering, mind-altering drugs freely available to citizens, makes America better...or just more people tripping out?

Please show us all where I "bitched because you [I] want the Dems out of my life".

All you want is an excuse to attack me personally so have at it! Why would I want Dems out of my life? They, and especially Progressives, provide a constant source of entertainment.

Nobody needs an excuse at a party to tell the loud bore, that they are lacking the skills to understand most of what they are talking about. Trickle down worked and alcohol and its carnage is ignored because our problem is pot......it just so mind numbing stupid that you do not even pretend to make cogent arguments for your spamming this forum. Pot a gateway to smack.......learn something......pain killers are predominately the gateway for smack. However, addiction is not about another drug.....it is about choices of the individual and how they deal with many other mental health issues.
