He should not be under estimated. He is a demagogue of the first order. Given the right campaign organization he could catch on like a wild fire in a drought stricken wilderness. Let's hope one of the other hopefuls on the far right comes forward to dampen his appeal.

Cruz will have the backing of the hardcore, fundamentalist, whacko, Tihadist portion of the republican party. And every vote he secures is one less for Jeb Bush.
Jeb will be forced to the right by Cruz's popularism with the meat-eating portion of the dysfunctional republican party, and if he gets the nod, Hillary's crew will run ad after ad of Jeb pretending to be a tijadist.
Ad to that the fact that African-Americans and Latinos would rather drown in vomit than vote republican, and the future is entirely predictable.
The race I'd like to see is Warren vs. Cruz. What a show!!

How does he collect revenue to support the military if he does away with the IRS? Put responsibility on businesses to collect the fair tax? Isn't that more paperwork for businesses? Not that he could/would ever do that. I mean congress can't get minor things done much less a pipe dream like that!

Cruz's retrograde political agenda and vision of government went out of fashion in polite society around 1860.
So yes, he will appeal to the knuckdraggers of the GOP base.
The bar has been set so low that you would need ground penetrating radar to find it.
The other GOP hopefuls better start digging soon.

This is wildly amusing and telling!
Ted Cruz has no chance of winning the Republican nomination. However, he will get his message out and influence the Republican platform and be the bull dog attacking whoever is the Democrat nominee.
Here we have the Progressives jumping out of their skin to denigrate a good person.
If they weren't so scared of 2016, they certainly wouldn't be putting for such an attack on someone who has no chance of winning. They won't have anything when the actual campaign begins in mid 2016.
