Because of my job many years ago, I would ride with officers. I have told the story repeatedly about how a transfer police van is used to assault prisoners who have been uncooperative. If you are cooperative and have an outstanding arrest warrant on a traffic stop, the arresting officer will call the van, transfer you to the van, and a driver transport you to the jail, where they unload any prisoners at the jail and on video. Nice guy.....easy trip.

Now you get a smart mouth uncooperative driver.......the officer gives the van driver the word.....the cuffs are put on really really really tight. The van driver speeds up to almost fifty and then comes to a stop sign and makes an emergency stop as your hear the prisoner fly through the air and bang the wall right behind the van driver......who then rapidly accelerates as you hear the prisoner fly through the air and hit the back door. You hear the cries of the troublemaker as this process is repeated over and over again as the van takes the long way to the station. Into the station and TV cameras as the van driver helps the arrested person who now is begging to have his cuffs loosened. I have seen grown men cry in this process........How stupid do these police officers think the public is........an anonymous passenger is insinuating that a person intentionally severed their spinal cord in the back of the van.......this country is in deep trouble.

I assume you reported that disgusting driving episode as soon as you witnessed it. Did the prisoner riding in the van with Gray observe this type of driving?

The folks who got the ride were total dicks.....I did not lose a moment of sleep because I probably would do the same thing. It was wrong and two wrongs do not make a right, but I could tell ten stories of police abuse I have personally observed or been told first hand, and not once did I even think about complaining on the conduct of the officers. So if I have seen this, how and the hell does anybody think we are going to fix this without total retraining and new procedures which include internal reporting which keep an officer safe from retribution......and yes the retribution is real, and often puts the good guys at risk. I personally have heard officers bragging about leaving a fellow officer out to hang in a dangerous confrontation.......We have DRASTIC problems in our criminal justice system which have been buried too long. I however made real changes in the criminal justice system by other means which I fully faced the same retribution I have spoken, but never was in any physical danger.....just dick things were done because of going after bad guys.......who often wear a uniform.

If you saw it and didn't report, you are as complicit as the Germans who said nothing against the Nazis.
