You're miserable, so why not admit that you demand the same for everyone shared misery?
I am not miserable. I have received unlimited opportunity in this great nation with a fair level playing field where my efforts were rewarded with wealth and security. Immigrants in this great nation have gone from poverty in wealth often in less than one generation. The American dream is very real and thriving.
However, just like the fed's regulation of monetary policy, Congress has a mandate which is clear in our founding fathers directive to promote the general welfare of the people. If you recognize that economics is a science, and that there are clear economic principles which seforth that demand drives GDP, and that our revolution was fought because of economic exploitation of the American colonist where their general welfare took a back seat to the monarchy and the monied class who exploited the colonist under the cover of law, you would realize that the minimum wage is a tool to maximize GDP, minimize governmental assistance, and stop wealth which has no patriotism or loyalty to the United States from exploiting the American worker. Where the least amongst us are the exploited, and where the taxpayer must pay indirect subsidy to those employers who exploit Americans by not paying living wages, the minimum wage in a very scientific manner can be set to maximize GDP, and minimize taxpayer subsidy to corporations and the least amongst us. It is not a zero sum game where at one end is socialism and the other unfettered capitalism, rather it is a scientific blend.
I do not agree with politicians arbitrarily raising minimum wage in huge increments. The science of economics tells us this can be inflationary and counterproductive, rather we should let those economic advisors give us the best blend of incremental minimum wage increases which maximizes GDP and provides for the general welfare of Americans. This is not socialism, rather it is sound science if we are true to our constitution and the directives contained therein.
