Six fire departments are responding to a fire in the area of Saragon Lane and Garcon Point Road, according to the Florida Forest Service.
Crews from Bagdad, Avalon, Midway, East Milton, Pace and Skyline fire departments are on scene along with Florida Forest Service, a Forest Service helicopter, Santa Rosa County Emergency Management and the Santa Rosa Sherriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. According to Joe Zwierzchowski, Wildfire Mitigation Specialist with the Florida Forest Service, aerial estimates put the fire at 25 acres at the moment.
"Crews are making good progress and there is rain over the fire at this time," Zwierzchowski said.
Fire department crews are taking measures to protect homes on Mercy and Saragon Lanes.
