A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...ACCOMPANIED BY A LARGE BUT DISORGANIZED AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS...HAS MOVED OVER THE YUCATAN PENINSULA THIS MORNING. DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS NOT ANTICIPATED WHILE IT MOVES OVER LAND...BUT THERE IS STILL POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT ONCE THE DISTURBANCE MOVES OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO ON FRIDAY. AFTER THAT TIME...THE LOW IS FORECAST TO MOVE TOWARD THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO WHERE THE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS WOULD ONLY FAVOR SLOW DEVELOPMENT...IF ANY. THIS SYSTEM HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...50 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
Even if it comes our way it doesn't seem likely to become stronger than tropical storm force winds. But if we are in the direct path of it that could cause power failures. I would get the generator fired up and tested. And be sure and add some stabilizer to the gas.
The government makes the weather people show this stuff so the common people will go out and buy batteries, candles, and generators. By the way, I have a generator for sale if anyone's interested.

I'm not worried about this little thing. It's the ones coming after it over the next few weeks that could be worrisome. But if anyone has a generator (old or new) now is the time to make sure it will still crank and run. I think I'll go dig mine out and fire it up sometime over the weekend.
I hope yall are right about this little ole storm . . . . we've seen these get in the Gulf and become monsters.
I start my generator monthly and charge the battery + I keep 20 gal of extra fuel that I put in my vehicles after storm season is over. I just don't want to put up those dang shutters . . . .
