The stress level of hard work and failing health has made this last year very difficult. We have hand cut and cleaned up the area of phase 1 of our project, and my wife can decide to sell the property after I pass as there are no loose ends. The project was largely responsible for me still being here. Two years ago I would take my bobcat down with my dump truck and build the roads and clear and plant grass or sod. We still have about six pallets of sod to put down, and we have a quote on somebody doing the labor on the same. I enjoyed the satisfaction of sodding and clearing which at the end of the day gave a person a great deal of satisfaction.
My wife will post the address of the project and invite anybody to walk around the property to see what two old people accomplished. Two years ago I would chain saw, sit down and rest, and chain saw some more. It was important that we did these things by hand so as not to damage the grove of live oaks on the property. We repaired the plumbing in the Park Model where a rodent had chewed it up, and got the furnace and water heater serviced and working great. I just wish I could have lived another year to enjoy next winter just chilling out and going out in a boat and fishing......will not happen, but with all the frustration of the last two months as I became to weak to really contribute much other than painting and clearing......we both will celebrate that when we return to Illinois on Sunday, we have carved out a beautiful natural setting for somebody in the future to enjoy. I think about granite headstones telling maybe ten people in a hundred years who you were.....this project and my projects in Illinois tell the complete story of who I was, and the great life partner who shared my adventures.
