Very strange. Where did this happen? He's "returning home" from which trip?

Washington (CNN)Pointing to the outcry over President Donald Trump's latest controversial tweets, freshman Rep. Jamie Raskin is urging his colleagues to get behind a bill that could potentially oust the President if he was mentally or physically unfit.

The Maryland Democrat wants to create an 11-member commission made up of mostly physicians and psychiatrists -- more formally called the "Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity." The panel would carry out a medical examination and determine whether the President was physically or mentally able to do the job.
Two of the commission's members would also be former high ranking officials, such as presidents, vice presidents, attorneys general or secretaries of state.
It's a provocative and long-shot effort, but Raskin is citing as his legal backup the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, which was adopted in 1967 after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy to establish procedure in the case a president is incapacitated. About two dozen Democrats have signed on to the effort as of Thursday.
Raskin is zeroing in on one section of that constitutional amendment, which allows the vice president to assume powers if either the majority of the Cabinet or "such other body as Congress" finds that the President is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of office." (The vice president would also have to agree to the assessment of the President's abilities.) Raskin is proposing his commission to serve as that "body."

I am appalled that a member of Congress would even suggest such a commission. First, it has been less than a generation when political dissent was met by a panel of experts declaring that person mentally ill and being sent to a gulag.

Sorry, just because President Trump does things which irritate the status quo, and I am personally disgusted by the man, I find it appalling to suggest such commissions or panels. Mental illness or physical illness does not under our constitution call for such witch hunt panels. We have an impeachment process, but even that does not in it's umbrella talk about mental illness.

Look, the man is plainly incapacitated and unstable. Facing an important meeting with Vladimir Putin, he has time to tweet insults to John Podesta. The deciding factor should be a comprehensive review of his nutty day by day actions, and an accounting of all the legislation that's been enacted since his ill-fated inauguration.

If you aren't a billionaire, Mr. Trump thinks you're a dummy.

But the real dummies are those who still stick by him!

Reality.

It's as if dems have no idea how a commission is empanelled... or funded if independent.

It's amazing what can be ignored when the talkingpoint sounds wonderful.

Completely irrelevant.

Alt-right talkingpoint...        lol.

It is an excuse to use subjective criteria to overthrow a democracy. The Russians argued their determination that a dissident was mentally impaired was using expert medical people. Nonsense. We have ample examples of where Presidents were physically or mentally challenged, yet the government functioned. The idea that some sort of none constitutional body could strip the president from his office is insanity. The 25th Amendment sets forth clearly methods for the Vice President to become acting President until a President can resume office. It is government officials who make this determination, not a panel of so called experts who were not elected or appointed to government.

I am regularly amazed by what some think are temporary political solutions without giving a thought of what that impact is on our constitution and democracy.

I can't believe the President of the United States met for over two hours with donald trump

30 minute meeting lasted 2:20 minutes.  Renegotiating and then explaining terms of his loans took longer than expected.

LONG US/Russia Meeting - Putin found out that he had to replace his written directions to Trump with bullet points and pictures.

Perhaps he became "unstuck in time" and thought he was auditioning for a spot on The Apprentice.

There is a good chance that Trump isn't senile or sick. He might very well just be a stupid a$$hole.

You have a good point. However, there's also a chance that Trump hates America and loves Russia, and is doing all he can to flush us down the toilet.

He doesn't hate America; he just loves money.  But the result of that obsession is the loosing of the hounds.  The oligarchs he's chosen to "lead" will make every effort to impoverish the rest of us and kill off the weak...like Jesus wanted...No...wait...that wasn't Jesus.
