If you think the President Elect has the temperament to tweet responsibly once in office then you probably won't want to sign this petition supported by the Plowshares group. The way things are set up now it only takes about four minutes to launch nuclear weapons and the President alone does this. Hmmm. or OMG rather. Please share.

Opinion pieces? What do you mean? the Plowshares group is a real thing, it takes about four minutes to launch our weapons and the petition is gathering names to ask that the weapons be taken off of high alert, so where is the opinion in all that? Or are you referring to the cartoon?

It's just more fear mongering and demagoguery. Designed to play on the campaign talkingpoints. We have no idea what Trump will do... much like when Obama took office. These fears may prove true... or they may not. Regardless there's little or anything we can do now. The election is over.

There are plenty of examples of Trump's immature behavior as seen over the course of his career as a reality TV personality and his actions/tweets on the campaign trail and also after the election. He is not expected to "pivot" to a more grown-up demeanor. One minute it seems as if he may have actually comprehended some of the more weighty aspects of being President and then the next he goes off on a Twitter Storm insulting someone who he thinks has disrespected him. If this is not enough to make the country a little nervous I don't know what is.

There is something we can do and that is what the petition is all about. The election is over but the country needs to keep an eye on him in any way we can. It is not the time to fall asleep and let him run things unattended.

The petition is a joke... just like the recounts... and the rest of the diversions.

If you've paid attention (and I really only do casually since the election) he's softened some positions.

Do you go out of your way to sound snarky or does it come naturally? This is no joke.

Ever hear of the "football"? There are mechanisms in place (no stupid image red button involved Joani) that allows the commander in chief to launch nuclear war heads in 4 minutes. There are no checks and balances, no oversight. There is no way to abort a launch once it is set in motion.

I hope the Tweeter Elect knows the difference between a tweet and the end of civilization.

This is one of your more ridiculous posts, honestly.

Please show us all where I said ANYTHING about nuclear disarmament?? I did not. This is a petition asking President Obama to take the nuclear arsenal off of its current hair trigger setting to a setting that requires more time for a launch to be initiated. Do you see the difference between "taking more time" and "getting rid of all the weapons"? It is a pretty clear distinction.

It's really not the dems business how Trump handles the "football" or the level of readiness.

The hubris is impressive however. I wonder how long y'all can hold your breath over his decisions.

So a bunch of far left wing loonies knows better than our military what our level of preparedness should be at so as to best protect us.

Got it!

It just comes naturally when comments like yours are made.  You are playing on Hillary's failed campaign comments regarding nuclear weapons and President elect Trump.

Yes,  I know about the satchel that accompanies all presidents. And you and the world know about the 4 minute launch time thanks to Hillary's faux pas. There are protocols and precautions as with the PAL two man code.

The two man code is to prevent accidental launches by unstable people in the field, not the President.

Yes, I agree, you are a natural.

At least there was an oblique reference to "level of preparedness" and not nuclear disarmament in your post.

Only you could try and reduce the seriousness of nuclear disarmament, the longterm goal of the Plowshares Foundation (not the aim of the petition) to a partisan issue. For those who may actually want to know more about this group there is a link below.
