LSU at Florida....

Florida beats LSU 14-6; breaking LSU's 18 game winning streak. Florida was scoreless in the first half; LSU scored two Field Goals. The Second half, the Gators dominated on both sides of the ball, scoring two unanswered offensive touchdowns.

Next up for the Gators, the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Auburn lost yet again (to Arkansas). I think Gene Chizik will be looking for another job at the end of this season.

Scott McKinney on Southern Sports Tonight asked a month ago why Noles fans are not sold that FSU is back after the two blow out wins against the St Mary's Mother of the Blind. Last week at USF should have been enough to convince everyone that FSU is not near back. This week PROVES it.

The ghost of Bobby Bowden looms large. It will be at least one more coach after Jimbo Fisher before we can shake those cobwebs off and then think about returning to prominence. It was the same for Bama after Coach Bryant retired.

EJ Manuel has not lived up to the hype. He has been overrated from day one. We've had two touchdowns in two games by the offense and national title contenders don't have that anemic of an offense.

I am glad that we lost now because it prevents us from playing juggernauts like Alabama at the end of the season and getting a tail whooping. Maybe we can get a soft opponent for a bowl game....or maybe this will be the onus that convinces the admin to move to the SEC so that we can start having to compete EVERY WEEK. We'll get it handed to us early on, but in the long run, leaving the ACC for the SEC will be a dose of medicine we truly must choke down.

...Yes, Missouri and Texas A&M are each finding that the SEC is no cakewalk. Missou plays UF at the Swamp on November 3rd....

...In another note, Steve Spurrier finally has South Carolina operating on all 12 cylinders. The Gamecocks beat Georgia hard today, 35-7...

The number 3, 4, and 5 AP rated teams all lost yesterday. The first BCS poll will be released next week and Alabama and Oregon should remain atop. With the remaining schedules for both teams, I do not see either of these teams losing, so the BCS Championship will most likely be between the Crimson Tide and the Ducks.

@Seaoat: The Buckeye - Husker game was a pretty good game until OSU decided to pull their heads out of their asses and play football. I heard one of the Game Day commentators yesterday say that Taylor Martinez is far better than Braxton Miller and is probably the best QB in the Big 10. After the way Martinez played yesterday and the way Miller played, I certainly have my doubts that Martinez is the better WQB.

The Tide still ranks at the top.... I don't think South Carolina has ever ranked so high--Steve Spurrier has them running like a fine machine....

I was reading on another forum earlier today and someone had posted that there is no way that Florida deserves to move agead of FSU. My reply was au contraire! Florida beat the #3 ranked team at the time while FSU lost to an unranked team and struggled the week before against an also unranked South Florida. FSUs problem is that they seem to give up once they get a lead and have a real problem in closing the deal.

What I'm not so sure of is that ND and OSU deserve the #7 and #8 ranking respectfully. I don't see any proof yet that they have played any worthy opponents.

I have not seen Kansas State play, but I am hearing people say they may be a team to watch. I have no belief that ND should be in the top 10, but my guess with the way the polls will work is that Ohio State will move up the polls pretty quickly. I hate this system. I want a playoff system.

FSU doesn't need to even be ranked after their performance. As a fan, I am disgusted with their play.

USC was once ranked #2, until they lost to Navy.

It's a weird year, Bama is not great. The East Winner could beat them.

We'll see......

October 20th will tell exactly how good Florida and South Carolina really are. They go head to head in the Swamp. Then the following week Florida has Georgia. That is brutal back to back games for the Gators.
