More bullshit from the bullshit King. Here's an extraction from the latest article on the possibility of the Vermont public utility's story:

"Plus Greenwald's arguments are lost on the many who just see a chance to bash the "mainstream media" and the [Washington] Post, which distinguished itself this election season with aggressive reporting on Trump's businesses and background. The right-wing blogosphere was united in its take on the Post's initial, inflated reporting, with the Daily Caller's headline reading, "Washington Post Publishes False News Story About Russians Hacking Electrical Grid;" RedState ran "Washington Post Runs Fake News Story on Power Grid Hacking." The Post did irresponsibly overstate the issue by first reporting that "Russian hackers penetrated U.S. electricity grid," but the underlying story is true: Malware used by Russian hackers has been found on a U.S. utility computer, which should be a matter of grave concern. No matter—the right-wing army mobilized on Twitter, gleefully throwing around the "fake news" label that was initially applied to blogs that wrote demonstrably untrue stories surrounding the election but has been appropriated as a cudgel against any reporting that doesn't fit their preferred narrative."

As quoted above, it's clear that our resident fascist-racist "has been appropriated as a cudgel against any reporting that doesn't fit their preferred narrative." Markle is simply telling another of his many lies, as is his habit to claim things he wishes were true, were fact. Markle wouldn't know a fact because he doesn't recognize fact. For him and many of his followers, living in a post-fact world is all that matters.

It was definitely poor journalism where the computer hacked by the Russians was NOT on the grid network. There is a difference in poor journalism and fake news. One is an intentional act, and one is a negligent act. This was simple negligence and poor journalism, as the motivation to write a fake news story on this subject with the intent to diminish Trump's election through flooding the news media with innuendo concerning the Russians, is contradicted by the very fact that the Russians had indeed penetrated a Utility computer. That is the story. It is true. It is sufficient to delineate the problem, and it is the total defense to this story being fake news.

You cannot create a forgery or perpetrate a sham without intent. Please show me where the reporter, news organization had knowledge that the Russian hack was limited to an off line computer when they learned that Russian malware was on a computer, or that the crime is any less. You post forgeries, lies, and shams with the very specific intent to introduce "fake" news to comply with a propaganda strategy. The rookie reporter at the city council meeting who reports that only a veto by the mayor can stop the bill when in fact a simple majority of the council can do the same is NOT fake news where an intentional forgery or sham is perpetrated. It is simply poor journalism and negligence. Please do not try to compare the evil you perpetrate to rampant sloppy journalism. They are not congruent.

Seaoat is 100% correct here.  Further, the people on this forum throwing around the term "FAKE NEWS" left and right are only hurting themselves and their future case for any future accusation against verifiable fake news (which the story in question most definitely ISN'T).   Any idiot (except, apparently, the idiots on this forum) should be able to eaily see that the term will only lose all credibility and meaning when it's used willy-nilly with no connection to reality.

This incorrect over-usage of the term is not only irresponsible, it's just plain stupid.  But why would that surprise anyone?  As Sea said, it's an intelligence (or, more accurately, lack of same) thing.  Sadly, he's talking to a totally blank wall.

Still FAKE NEWS.

The FACT is that the malware was found in the LAPTOP of an individual employee whose computer was never connected to the electric grid and was never any threat.

Really, must you be so sensitive? I never claimed anyone intentionally posted it as FAKE NEWS, only that it what it turned out to be, FAKE.

It simply is not "fake news", nor does the FBI convene grand juries, and despite what Mr. Markle does not know or understand, there are managing brokers. This attempt by a shill who utilize propaganda which often involves "fake news" in an attempt to dilute, or in Orwellian splendor create "newspeak":

noun
1.
(sometimes initial capital letter) an official or semiofficial style of writing or saying one thing in the guise of its opposite, especially in order to serve a political or ideological cause while pretending to be objective, as in referring to “increased taxation” as “revenue enhancement.”.

So as the propagandist turn sloppy and negligent journalism into that intentional act of fake news to gain cover and as Linda said dilute the clear agenda of those who create fake news......so of course our resident liar arrives at an accident where a lady not paying attention makes a left turn into traffic which results in an accident. He immediately declares that the lady will be indicted for battery, and then asks the FBI to convene a grand jury. Please pull your pants up at this party and quit chitting in the living room......and please stop trying to convince us that the smell is flowers.

As usual you have proven our point. Almost every person who read this thread realized that slinger made a typo, a mistake, or was simply negligent when he wrote ciber. Not one other forum member said a thing, because we knew it was a mistake. Yet, you would start a thread and declare that Slinger was making Fake News by making a mistake. Yet, fake news would require a plan or intent to introduce the word ciber to illicit a plan for his propaganda. I must say that Slinger is brilliant because he has single handed exposed you for what you are.....

Thanks for the spelling correction. I'm sorry it bothered you so much.

It did not bother me in the slightest, because if I was shallow and without content I could attack any poster on this forum for spelling errors and grammar which all participants post in real time and make mistakes. I rarely try to correct one of the same because folks who live in glass houses should not throw rocks, but in typical hypocrisy in the very paragraph you make an attempt to correct, you write something which is incomprehensible if one takes it literally, and the very volume and frequency of my posts share in error, but I always welcome correction of the same. I am only bothered by your putrid spamming of this forum with intentional lies which are sophomoric and insulting to any person who is intelligent and desires a dialogue with facts and truth. You are a immoral person who demonstrates the same regularly. That does bother me because your evil is not random, but a well thought out plan to spread disinformation.

You take pride in being wrong. Negligent journalism being compared to fake news is simply an attempt to obscure the systematic use of fake news for propaganda purposes. The truth is the Russians hacked a computer in a utility. That is the story. The fact that the hack was not on the network which involved the grid, is a mistake in reporting, and not a systematic attempt to create a false impression that Russians are hacking in America. That fact was established twenty five years ago. The Russians conduct cyber espionage as we do we with them.

[b]The latest reports on this confirm Peedawg's statement. The Russian malware did not reach the power grid, and was found only on one of the firm's computers which was not connected to the grid.

Guess what Peedawg -- it doesn't hurt my ego a bit to admit I was wrong once real facts are presented. Too bad you cannot say the same.

It's beginning to look like the people who say the Russians are guilty of hacking the election, are matched by the numbers saying the story is bullshit. I don't trust the intelligence agencies any more than you should trust the republicans and Trump.

So, who really knows?

Very interesting "confession," WS, but, even though you apparently didn't know the malware was "only" on a utility company laptop not connected to the grid (and I wondered whether or not you knew, based on a couple of your responses), Seaoat and I did know it.  The news article's correction was made early on, and if you (and the others posting on this thread) had only taken the time to read Sea's posts, you would understand that not only did Sea know this, but he was backing up my assertion that this story - even though it constituted sloppy journalism in its error - was not intentional lying and thus did NOT rise to the definition of fake news in the sense that the current terminology is being used, i.e., to describe "news" intentionally made up out of thin air with no connection to reality, such as the Ping Pong Pizza child abuse story.

I stand by all my posts here and I'm sure Seaoat does, too.

Further, just the fact that the malware was on a laptop belonging to the utility is still way too close for comfort, as are any attempts whatsoever to infilitrate and/or breach the security of that critical industry.  It may have  been partially erroneous news, but it was NOT FAKE NEWS.

2seaoat

The two people who introduce the most Fake News on this forum trying to rationalize that negligent reporting is fake news......priceless......Einstein and his sidekick paddlefoot telling us what is fake news. Intelligence does matter.
