What must it be like for a courageous American soldier to realize he's a victim and all the deaths and tragedies he witnessed, and all his efforts in fighting a doomed war, were ALL for nothing?

Yes that's the reality. But you won't convince the folks who post here.
They're so obsessed with making it all about Bush's fault or all about Obama's fault that they can no longer see the forest for the trees.
The excuse for it in the past has always been that we need that oil. And now after we need less of the oil, the excuse is "if we don't kill them over there we'll have to kill them over here" and of course that does nothing except make the situation get worse and worse.

Here's the part of this twisted mentality that is the most bizarre thing of all.
I was listening to a radio talk show, and as is the case with most talk radio, the message is a combination of right-wing chickenhawkism and christianity.

The consensus among the host and his sycophantic callers was this.
That only gutless cowards care about dropping bombs on a Doctors Without Borders hospital killing everyone inside including children because that's just collateral damage in war so get over it. And then the same hosts and callers were saying we all need to "get right with Jesus" and live by his rules.

It was like an episode of The Twilight Zone.

One of the most pathetic things we've witnessed over the past decade was John McCain running his mouth about how Baghdad had become so safe because of the invasion and occupation and he was going to prove it by walking through a Baghdad market.
But then we find out he was wearing armor and was surrounded by an army of bodyguards and sharpshooters and all the rest. Not to mention that while he was walking in the market with his army of protection around him, a suicide bomber blew up a school in Baghdad killing dozens of children.

I became convinced not long ago that McCain is suffering from a really deep-seated form of PTSD resulting from his torture as a POW. That's why he only feels safe when the U.S. military is in control of everything in the world.

By the way,  the particular talk show I referred to is Mark Levin.
Mark's really come a long way fast.   On radio,  he's now behind only Limbaugh and  Hannity and competing for third place with Savage.
And if you think Trump is wild and crazy,  you should hear this guy.
He's got two features to his personality.  He's extremely intelligent,  knowledgable and able to communicate.  But he's also a raving lunatic.
If we look down through history, that combination has always been pretty scary.

The thing we can always count on from Semi-sane, "I know NOSSING! Markle:  Up is down. Wet is Dry.  Fast is Slow.  

The soldier's story (linked at the top) speaks for itself.

Deciding to take out Saddam was the most expensive blunder -- in blood and money -- in the last century.  Markle, of course argues all the problems were caused by Obama pulling out our troops too soon.  But again, does it really matter?  The truth, despite Markle's inability to ever confront it, is that virtually every American decision involving force in the MidEast has led us where we are today:  dysfunctional foreign policy, dreadful wastage of troops and money,and a new world where Russian fighter jets and American fighter jets are flying daily on the edge of combat.  I repeat, we're now at the stage where Russia, with thousands of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles is standing out on the dirt in front of the town bar, faced by us with all our nukes and rockets.

As you know, my far left good friend Wordslinger is the one who outspokenly claims to be a Socialist/Communist. For many years he used the name of Adolph Hitler's private train, The Amerika, as his signature.

Here, specifically, is what Wordslinger should be the policy of this country. Do you really believe it is a coincidence that he also identifies with his train? On top of that, Wordslinger expresses his hate for Jews.

That is the lowest of blows, and an outright lie. He has been critical of Israel, but I have never heard him say anything which approaches hate for Jews. Next you will say I hate Jews when I have attacked hate for 10 years on the PNJ and here. Why make stuff up, and the worse part like the fake hearings to find out what happen to Chris which are really about a partisan witch hunt, you have no morality which allows you to distinguish right from wrong, and use his dead body as political fuel.

Poor, desperate, Semi-sane. According to him, anyone against Bibi's policies hates Jews. My dad was a Jew and I still love him. General Jacky Even, former Armored IDF Commander of the Six Day War, and former Counsel General for the State of Israel in Los Angeles, is one of my best friends. This thread isn't about the desperate, pathetic ravings of Semi-sane Markle whom I evidently irritate so deeply he can't make up lies about me quick enough.  No. This thread is about the soldier whose story is linked at the beginning of the thread.  It's about how our foreign policy in the MidEast has been consistently unproductive.  It's about the asinine arrogance of Bush and Obama and our deeply flawed, politically ambitious pentagon generals and the human tragedies they've caused, here and in the Mideast.

Take note: Markle didn't attack the soldier who realizes he and his comrades, many of whom gave their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan, were simply exploited and savagely wasted by a government gone totally mad -- a government which has broken our economic system, destroyed our educational system, neglected environmental problems, and neglected a failing infrastructure --- to pursue unattainable goals in the Mideast.  What we have is a government dedicated to corporate control via campaign funding, on behalf of the MIC and the 1%.  
It's a government so insane that even the hard right won't support their own professional politicians running for President on the republican ticket.  No wonder they foam at the mouth for Donald the windbag Trump, and the "Which way is the political wind blowing today?" former surgeon, who yesterday claimed it was a waste of time for President Obama to go to Oregon and console the grieving survivors of our latest (thanks to the NRA) mass school shooting.
