Can you imagine? Right wing Christian whackos on FOX connecting American Sniper to serving Jesus ...

http://www.alternet.org/belief/right-wing-christians-who-think-american-sniper-embodies-christian-values?akid=12743.260394.wdEYte&rd=1&src=newsletter1031195&t=11

But, maybe they're right, and Jesus would indeed applaud Kyle the sniper for his fine record of killing "savages." I wouldn't know.

Actually, I hate all religions equally, that makes me a liberal anti-theist. And my hate is directed at real evil, unlike the KKK and the AFA and other racist Christian religions who target specific categories of folks they would enjoy killing.

Evil is simply a abstract moral construct that people create and everyone has their own perception of evil.

You talk about evil of others and then ignore the evil you yourself create. An example of which is the response I provided to your demands for law enforcement to back off.

Then there's the fact that you openly hate religions which leads me to believe that since you so rabidly despise them that I can only assume you would enjoy killing any religious member.

The paradox is inescapable when one contemplates the reality of one's own demands and beliefs.

So you're going to condemn the whole of something because of one or two illegitimate offspring.

Sounds like you more issues than a person can shake a stick at.

I bet you condemn a whole family because of one bad apple being born to it.

As far as I know, no Native American has ever murdered another Native American for religious purposes.

But for the sake of equality I support ending ALL religions. Period.

Only one thing will put an end to religion,  wordslinger.
That would be if Earth and human beings are visited by something from somewhere else which gives us answers to what are now unanswerable questions.
In the absence of that,  we have no answers.  And as long as that's the case,  most of humanity will prefer to invent answers.
It's always been that way,  is now,  and always will be.

Just like there will never be an end to conflict and war.
It's all a part of who we are.

Good point. There is a strong likelihood that we will eventually make contact with sentient beings from another galaxy. When that occurs, the demise of the three religions that rely on the Torah's (Old Testament) genesis is pretty much assured. If they have two heads, one eye, 9 arms and gills, will they also be formed in God's image? I wonder ....

If you believe several million eyewitnesses,  or even just a tiny percentage of them,   then we're constantly being visited by something.  And "something" is the word because as of now we have no clue who or what it is.
To be honest,  I have difficulty accepting that all of these tens of thousands of eyewitness claims can ALL be bogus.   Because if tens of thousands or millions of people are seeing something which isn't there,  then we have a lot bigger problem than religion.  Mass insanity. And mass insanity probably doesn't have a happy ending.

Years ago, back in the late 60s or early 70s there was a TV series (either Twilight Zone or Outer Limits) and one of the shows was entitled: To Serve Man. Essentially the show was about beings from another planet visiting the earth in peace, teaching advanced sciences, medicine, etc. Very giving, very thoughtful. When it was time for their enormous ship to return home, they offered to take a few hundred humans back to their planet for a visit. On the journey to the other planet, a book only partly translated from the spacemen's language was studied by one of the humans who was a linguist. Eventually he was able to interpret the books real meaning: To Serve Man was a cook book.

It's a Twilight Zone classic.  It was Serling's treatment of a short story published in 1950.
And it took 60 more years for astronomers/cosmologists etc. (Stephen Hawking among them) to begin to recognize the possibility that if/when there is an extraterrestrial visit we can't just assume it will be friendly.

Frankly,  I think that whole notion is silly.  They're trying to comprehend what they cannot now understand by applying human characteristics to it (scientists acting a lot like religion).
And even if they were not benevolent,  it wouldn't matter.  Because we would have no defenses against anything which has achieved intergalactic (or interdimensional or whatever) travel.  We might as well be using spears and slingshots.

I had an alcoholic Uncle (who doesn't?) who claimed he met three aliens that descended their saucer over his Mazda pick-up while he was parked near Kelso, in the Mojave desert in California. They were friendly as hell and told him not to be frightened. He asked if they'd like him to drive on into Barstow and take them to some authorities who would be happy to meet them and discuss ... well, everything. No doubt the President would want to see them too.

The one who did all the talking told my uncle they sincerely appreciated his offer, but they really didn't want to create a big fuss. Then they explained that onions were a primary component of their diet, and some sort of rigurzubb (a plague) had wiped out all the onions on their planet except for a few red ones. If uncle Dave could just help them get a full bushel of healthy white or yellow onions, they'd be on their way back home in a hurry, and they'd be forever grateful. They told Dave that back where they live, he'd become part of their lore, and songs and poems would be written about his kindness and intelligence.

But Uncle Dave was stubborn as a mule. He pointed out that he would be failing the people of his own planet if he couldn't take the aliens to meet earth's biggest leaders and scientists and doctors, people who love to learn from them.

The nice one told him in a soft, slow voice, that they'd been studying our planet for hundreds of centuries, and they didn't think there was anything we would know that would be of any value where they live. And there wasn't anything we had or built of any value either. As it turned out, the only thing on our planet worth a damn to them was our onions.

Uncle Dave told them to go fuck themselves (he didn't know that that was exactly how they reproduced up there). If they let him bring them into the public spotlight it would make him a hero here. That's the least they could do for him, he added.

The alien who hadn't spoken a word, leaned in close to Dave's ear and whispered "I can make one of your legs twenty-two feet long," he threatened.

Dave drove into Barstow, bought a bushel of Kern Valley white cooking onions and brought it back to where they were waiting. Dave had once been a very good dancer and the idea he'd never be able to dance again was simply too much.

The aliens took the onions and left. At least, that's what Uncle Dave told me. But he was always making stuff up when fueled by a bottle of Cabin Still.

Uncle Dave missed the boat. He should have made them a counter offer. Shoulda told them if they would make his johnson a little longer, he'd gladly trade em a sack of onions for that.
