Great day for Americans. Terrible day for republicans.

Third-quarter GDP was revised sharply higher to plus 5.0 percent for the strongest rate since way back in third-quarter 2003. Today's second revision, up 1.1 percent from the first revision and compared to plus 4.6 percent for the second quarter, reflects gains for health care, recreation, financial services, and software. Final sales were also revised sharply higher, to plus 5.0 vs a prior reading of 4.1 percent. GDP prices remain soft at plus 1.4 percent in a reading that is likely to ebb further given this quarter's drop in oil prices. Today's results point to unexpectedly strong economic momentum going into the current quarter.

Why is that? Aren't they Americans too? Don't they work and contribute to the economy? Or do you have to be Dem or communist in this day and age to be considered an "American"?

Wow - you are a weird one......

Because they're idiots with a worldview that isn't actually based in reality.  Republicans share a reality that is entirely fabricated, so when news comes out that doesn't fit with their worldview, they are forced to then make shit up on the fly in order to explain it away.

PACEDOG has been kind enough to illustrate this perfectly.

Do you mean fabrication like pumping trillions of air dollars into the markets and banks and corps...

and calling that a recovery? I call it a bubble at best... flat fraud and theft at worst.

No. That is called monetary policy. And for the rest of us living in the information age, it appears as if it has done quite well.

For cave-dwelling, neanderthal republicans.....CONSPIRACY!!!

The President continues in unprecedented economic growth. The Stock Market just hit 18k for a new record, and consumer confidence is growing. People are finding employment, and finally the President almost has us out of the ditch which after six years of patience and strong will.....the American people are once again with hope.

Stocks are bloated worse than in 08.

Employment is found at 25% less pay and hours.

We are far from out of a ditch when record numbers of people are taking public assistance.

I know baby boomers who lost 60% of their retirement with President Bush's economic policies, who know have recovered most of those losses. Those folks think bloated is good. They are enjoying early retirement as they no longer PARTICIPATE, and enjoy their early retirement.

A trend of gross redistribution of wealth has been in place since the 80's and is to blame for the public assistance and income numbers. This will not change until either 1) district gerrymandering is first corrected so that republicans can be evicted from the House or 2) republicans evolve on this issue and agree that it is something that should be addressed.

2 definitely isn't going to happen.

I'm really looking forward to next years final budget numbers. If we eventually return to surplus from the worst budget in US history...look out.

I see... So celebrating how well the large corporations are doing even though the middle class continues to fail and more and more go on welfare is something that progressive liberals appreciate and support.

Could we be a little more hypocritical and perhaps give the large corporates some more incentives using tax payer dollars to do so?
