Smug IRS gets called liars.

Ryan made a fool of himself. He is incompetent, and the staff had the responsibility to subpoena the private computers of Lerner and they failed in their duty as an investigatory agency. Now they are doing the Salem witch trial of the IRS without a scintilla of evidence and blaming the people they are investigating for not getting the hard drives which the committee should have had their forensic experts looking at with their subpoena powers.

This has become a full political attack on the IRS as if this agency was picking on a group because of a political orientation. There is no evidence of the same. House committee after House committee is not doing the business of this nation, and wastes their time in silly political theater. The sad part is some people cannot discern the truth.

Is this the same govt agency that sent out 4b in what should've been easily fraudulent returns? I feel better already.

I have fought the IRS and won. I have posted this in the PNJ. I had a business depreciation which used a home, but was more in the nature of short term rentals which utilized the depreciation schedule of a motel or hotel. I had a twenty thousand something refund due. They took my refund and said my depreciation was wrong and that I owed them 7k more taxes.

I made an appointment with a regional office and a lady sat down with my wife and I. She had a tatoo on her neck, and did not understand the issue. She said she would call her supervisor who was even lacked a cursory knowledge of the tax code or the issue, and referred us to a mail audit team in NY state. I left the IRS office and went directly to my congressman's office who assigned a specialist with the IRS who would follow up our claim that the IRS did not know what they were doing.

Two years of fighting them, we finally got a specialist who understood the IRS code and depreciation schedules and agreed our return was correct and that they owed us 9% interest on the twenty something thousand, and they sent us a check of about 25k. At the time 3% is all we could get on a CD, so we made a profit on their utter incompetence, and this was not done because of my political beliefs, but was done because the special interests have made such a complex tax code that most people must hire someone to do their taxes and people are faced with complexity not dishonesty as citizens, and yes.......IRS agents can be incompetent without harboring the intent to punish or defraud.

Too many people curl up into the fetal position when the government is wrong. They will not leave their homes to help a neighbor, and they have become so complacent that they allow bullies in government to intimidate them.........it only takes a few people taking on the bully to stop the behavior, not some grand scheme of congressional hearings on BS, but citizens taking on abuse at every turn.

Forgive me for not understanding but this whole post went to show the incompetence of the IRS but yet when six months of emails are erased/destroyed and deemed untraceable somehow its NOT the IRS's fault? Insanity! What if they had done as you suggested and subpoenaed the records? Don't you think that the IRS would have covered their tracks before then also? I'm glad you at least are acknowledging that they are missing now because when this story first was posted by PD you laughed at him and said it was propaganda.

Do you realize that these are not IRS computers? You do realize that these are employee computers. So let say the fire department investigating some wrong doing at the fire department calls you and asks to look at your personal computer. What would your response be? Do you think the IRS has subpoena power to get those employee computers without a court order? Guess who has subpoena power from the git go......you got it right.....the damn committee who is suppose to be doing an investigation. Never in fifty years have I seen a house committee conducting an investigation not issue subpoenas, and certainly you start with Lerner's personal computer. The IRS is saying that the House members are wrong. They are sitting back laughing their asz off at how stupid the people we have elected to Congress. Ryan is absolutely clueless, and this guy is supposed to be a financial guru......do you not see the smoke and mirrors. It is not coming from the IRS on this one.

Nope. Everything that I've read says it is the IRS computers that crashed. Even if what you are stating were true then whatever emails she sent from her "personal" computer to the IRS should be traceable.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) claimed Friday that it cannot produce Lois Lerner’s emails to and from the White House and other administration departments due to a supposed computer crash.

The IRS previously agreed to hand over all of the ex-IRS official’s emails from 2009 to 2011 to the House Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Rep. Dave Camp. But the IRS claimed Friday that it has Lerner’s emails to and from other IRS officials but it cannot produce emails to and from the Treasury and Justice Departments, the Federal Election Commission, or Democratic offices.

The IRS’ computer crash may go down in history next to the eighteen and a half minute gap in the Watergate tapes, which was supposedly caused by a mistake by Richard Nixon’s secretary Rose Mary Woods.

“The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRS’s response to Congressional inquiries,” Camp said in a statement. “There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.”

Again, for the fourth time this is not a direct quote from the IRS, this is David Camps interpretation of a verbal phone conversation. Please show me an official written statement from the IRS saying THEIR computers were lost. They Told in open committee testimony that their lawyers would release THEIR emails once redacted in first quarter 2015, they have made no other public statement, and if you listen to the witness in the Paul Ryan video, he is telling Mr. Ryan that he has the facts wrong. There has been no written statement from the IRS saying that the computers under their control have failed......zero.......there have only been slanted news stories which originated from camp saying that some emails were not available as TOLD to camp by the IRS. When trying to answer the lies Ryan was purporting the IRS agent simply said he was wrong......why......because the fools never subpoenaed the records like they were suppose to.......the committees forensic experts should have been all over this......but instead they create a verbal propaganda slurry that somehow the IRS is claiming THEIR computers crashed complete nonsense. However, feel free to show me the written IRS document which claims the same. Please reference the video which the witness clearly talks about the exhibits they were and were not successful in getting.

1) The GOP is desperate to stop any further investigation into the 501c4 organizations.

2) The GOP would like to drag this out until the next election.

3) Dick & Liz Cheney just formed a brand new 501c4.

Okay, fine. Show me an official statement saying that her computer as well as 6 other key players were strictly for personal use and were not the property of the U.S government.

Most government and corporations won't allow their information on personal computers due to security issues...

I already have the IRS official telling Ryan he is wrong. What part does anybody not understand? No official IRS statement has been given. An exhibit showing those items which they could not get was 27 pages long, and when Ryan made the preposterous statement that the IRS had allowed these gaps on THEIR computers, the IRS official said Mr. Ryan was wrong, and was cut off......at which time protests came from other reps on not allowing the IRS to answer. How simple does this have to be made?

This is all verbal banter, picked up by the media on what Camp said the IRS said, and when confronted by Ryan, the IRS clearly said he was wrong. Ryan called him a liar. Well Mr. Ryan, please show us those written memos which prove your case.......nope, because your staff has been sitting on their asz and did not subpoena Learner's computer.....FACT!
