Retired chemist Edward Schokowitz was incredulous when he received a letter from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey early last month saying his Medicare Advantage Plan, which had no premium, would be eliminated next year.

“They took all the senior citizens and threw us out of the plan. They now want to give us the same plan for $153 [per month],” he told the Daily Caller. “The President said you can’t be kicked out of your plan. He lies.”

Schokowitz is one of many Medicare beneficiaries now learning that — like Americans who buy insurance on the individual market — they are losing their insurance, and in some cases their doctors, under Obamacare.

It will take until 2018 and a couple cycles of penalties for people to have their choices influenced by penalty. This years sign ups neither make or break this Act. It will be the modification of the penalties which will get people's attention if they choose not to be insured.

Why does New Jersey Blue Cross have to increase Advantage premiums from zero to $158/month when Florida Blue Cross is keeping them at zero?
That makes absolutely no sense to me.   New Jersey Blue Cross is getting the same amount per person from the federal government to fund Advantage plans as Florida Blue Cross is.

This thread makes no sense unless the complete alternative is disclosed. It appears all across this nation folks who have been on news programs claiming that their rates went up after cancellation have been ignorant as to the options available. A reporter from the LA times has been debunking almost all claims, and in some cases the people had huge savings. I do not deny that folks can be caught in a gap, but this represents about 3% of the people eligible. For the last 30 years we have seen close to 30% of our population falling between the cracks......this is ironic this new found concern by the very people who never gave a rat's tail about these people.
