The hospitals who have been screwing up are going to be penalized under the Affordable Care Act.........Bill Mahr has excellent guests and this is the first time I have heard that there is finally teeth to go after bad hospitals. Finally.

Quality care can never happen if people get abused and there is no accountability as the Union protects doctors and hospitals.......finally, we are going to identify the quality failures.

2seaoat

35 million people with preexisting conditions can now get insurance to cover those conditions. The people are going to finally see daylight, and 2.3% medical device tax supports 30 billion into the Act, and a 13k device is paid 20k and we think it is bad to tax these folks who are profiting on sick people.

Not all......but enough to finally have mechanisms to extract the same from the system. There certainly will be more hospital closings, or there will be improvements in their infection rates, and malpractice rates. Peer review in the end is the only solution to the problems, but if the problems no longer can pull a profit and operate.......improvement.

One time I was taking my Grandmother to a store. We happened to pass Baptist hospital and they were doing a major addition. My grandmother asked? "Where are all the folks right now that are going to fill up that place?" Next month when it opens it will be full of people and you will have to beg to be admitted. I damn sure did not have an answer..

When you have three hospitals in a metropolitan area, folks have to sell their hospital as being clean, smart, and effective. So many of the tv ads I am seeing in local tv is each hospital trying to convince folks that they are better, but there are some hospitals I would not take my dog to the emergency room.

When one of these death traps is running ads about their recognized quality......you hope somebody will objectively make improvements or close the bad places down.

So according to 2seaoat, my far left Progressive good friend, by lowering the pay to doctors and hospitals...they will provide better service.

When did competition stop being good for everyone?

As for infections, you might want to check on the facilities in the countries you admire the most.  I mean at sources other than your homepage, the DailyKOS.

Sorry Mr. Markle, you can try to dismiss my common sense as the rantings of a far left but I am a respected Republican who has more Republicans like myself who have rejected the takeover of this party by your handlers and dixiecrats. Health care inflation over the last 20 years outstripped all other areas of the economy, and now you argue that cost cutting is not necessary. Sorry, real Republicans and not shills for the Oligarchy want to see efficiency and wise government spending. They do not want to see special interests buy newspapers, media, and have people on forums and the internet spewing nonsense that health care costs cannot be cut. Sorry, we have given a blank check to the health care providers. The medical device folks make 10k off a hip implant and there is little or no competition or regulation in your dream of a free market where the price escalation has no counterweight......well the affordable care act is that counterweight, and your handlers will have less money to pay you to rip off the American people. The people will win this battle, and the middle class in this country will stop the decline.

the people will win this battle? which people? the middle class? who many of those work FOR healthcare companies.... are you aware of this?

Middle class? what happened to lots of those middle class people? theres fewer now. I wonder what happened to them?

oh and the medical device problem youre so concerned about because you feel those people make too much money too. Rolling Eyes well, eve the left wants that repealed because its just pushing more jobs over seas.

I see now, what you really seek is social justice. and whats funny about your stance is your the direct beneficiary of mega dollars being siphoned off into pharm companies who make BIG paychecks. Your shots of which benefit few, but cost a lot. Do you think things like that should be leaned out? and are you willing to give them up if you could so the cost on the system could go towards paying for other less fortunate than you? Or are you only selfless with other peoples lives and money?

I posted to all of you if we had a vote for the people not them an open down vote and didn't get an answer WHY!   Because yall know the people vote would kill Obama care and you know it!

Just because you vote for a president doesn't say you agree on every dang thing he wants to do.

President Obama won yes --If he told you you must jump off a bridge are ya gonna do it NO.

I voted for Johnson. I have never voted for a democrat for president. People here call me a liar, but that is the truth. The truth also is the the Affordable Care Act in addressing preexisting conditions is a huge huge and popular success with the American people. Now if you want to support a 28 year old free loader who drives his motorcycle off the road and sustains injuries which put him in the hospital for a month......I like the idea of him paying for his care through insurance, and not having the taxpayer pick up the tab. That used to be a major tenet of Republicans. Now when this core of self reliance and responsibility is adopted by a Democrat, it becomes an abomination. Sorry there are adults in this discussion and there are children. Fortunately, the adults have carried the day, and the children are throwing a tantrum costing this nation 300 million a day. The children will be disciplined in 2014, but until then traditional republicans have to deal with the tantrum.

Bull shit. The implants do not cost that much. Insurance companies and hospitals control which vendors they will negotiate with for the lowest price, not which implant is better for the patient or physician preference.

Heheeee....I have to tell on myself here.

Years ago, I starred in one of those hospital ads on TV. For who knows what reason, Ellis Bullock liked me. I suppose I'm a fairly good actress, so the ad did turn out well.

My Mom was proud. I was embarrassed.....I felt like a prostitute.

My closing line in the ad was "I'm on call for your call (big, sexy over-the-shoulder smile here)."

It took me a long time to live that one down!  Laughing

I did one years and years ago for a Fox Network documentry. I never saw it. WFH did an ad for the ER....I wore a T-shirt with a bandaid and the slogan..."When a bandaid isn't enough"

That is the beauty of this system. You have a free choice. The taxpayers win, and finally deadbeats are being held responsible for their choices. Responsibility is a bitch. That is a fundamental Republican concept, but the crazies have stolen the debate, and have made responsibility into some socialistic concept. Hardly. Deadbeats pay. It cannot get better.
