A simple squad goes to her house and asks her if she was letting off steam or was serious....either way the woman is going to get the message that threats need to be taken seriously, or she goes to jail. Pressing charges was insane........poor people angry.......we better get used to it......the anger will grow, and if justice is a lost concept......God help us.........

We are consuming our young......now the monster we created is turning on us........People need to support candidates who have the courage to talk budget cuts in the criminal justice system. It has reached the insanity point.

790.162 Threat to throw, project, place, or discharge any destructive device, felony; penalty.—It is unlawful for any person to threaten to throw, project, place, or discharge any destructive device with intent to do bodily harm to any person or with intent to do damage to any property of any person, and any person convicted thereof commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084




Sorry Seaoat....you are way out of line on this one. She committed a felony. ...Gulf Power will accept a payment plan if residents can not afford to pay the full bill. She was 2 months behind and she made the threats twice. One of the Gulf Power buildings, from what I understand, had to be evacuated. 


Her inappropriate irrational  behaviour cannot and should not be tolerated, no matter how poor or how badly she mismanages her finances. Many agencies will assist with utilities....up to a point.


 If you don't pay your drug dealer you don't get your cocaine. If you don't pay your pot dealer you don't get your pot. If you you don't pay $50.00 plus dollars for a carton of cigarettes you don't get your cigarettes. If you write bad checks you get arrested.....look up her arrest record in Escambia and Santa Rosa County. Cigarettes, alcohol, weed, an cocaine can drain a household budget.

Nonsense. Mere words when angry at a utility get charged, but run a kid over on a bike, and no charge. Sorry, the Barnies have taken over the system. Andy goes over to her house and explains she could be facing criminal charges and are you serious in your threat. Its called common sense. Run over a kid.....collect a paycheck........get angry at the utility.......spend three years in jail......sorry discretion is a lost art to all the Barnies and their sympathizers are scardy cats and it is destroying this country. We have the largest number of people incarcerated in the world, and it is just this type of nonsense which is bankrupting this country both financially and morally.

 Wouldn't it be funny if your relative prosecuted the case.

 You don't get a free pass on a bomb threat. There are other ways she could have handled her situation. She is a criminal and she was arrested because that is the LAW.

My daughter never would have got the case......the police departments are professional and have common sense. People getting shot going to their car, people leave a window open and get their dog shot, and people come on the internet and think a person angry about getting their power turned off is a credible threat......complete nonsense. The comedy channel just needs to read the PNJ, and listen to the people in the area being supportive of this idiocy........it is one thing to have a lack of training and an out of control criminal justice system, it is quite another to have people rationalizing this idiocy. This woman would not get arrested in 90% of America. Now if she called into a school, no problem. If she called in to a police station, a government meeting, or threatened an individual........but she was upset about her power being turned off, and they knew who she was.....knew her address......it was not a credible threat, and absolutely no causal connection to those mere words......it was a pissed utility customer......I am sure mediacom has been threatened with a nuclear weapon........absurd.

Here where I live in Pensacola Florida the Escambia County deputy sheriffs are corrupt. This happened this week! Warrant-less deputies climb through a couples window in the middle of the night and shoot there dogs because they claim they were protecting them!

Utter a threat publicly toward the President and see where that gets you. You will have the FBI knocking at or knocking down your door. I agree with Joani on this, there are many agencies available that would have help this lady with her utility bill had she just ask. There is absolutely no excuse for being 2 months behind on tour electricity bill.

A simple household budget would have prevented all this hoopla.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the reality of her finances......it has everything to do with the nature of the call and the reality of her actualizing on the threat. A simple squad with Andy solves all issues, but instead we have built a Barney system where Barney people think it is appropriate to put somebody in jail for years and have a felony record because in the heat of the moment dealing with a utility the caller got angry......this is completely different than a real threat where a person calls and hangs up..........the truth is that we have become a bunch of scardy cats who want an authoritative state to alleviate our fears and in the meantime they are charging this woman with a felony......and our world has become insane. It has EVERYTHING to do with her finances. She did not have money to pay her bill. She became irrational and blamed the power company. The power bill comes every month like clock work, imagine that. Budget, budget, budget.....back off the cocaine, pot, alcohol, and cigarettes if you want to run the a/c unit.

As for the felony record...she already has a felony record.

Oh but it does SO. Had she had the financial means in which to pay the power bill, the threat would never had been uttered. She would then be on her merry little way. Yes it does all revert back to her financial situation and I am sorry that you do not comprehend that concept.

You would be castigating the authorities had she made the threat, they did nothing but sit on their hands, and watch her carry out the threat and kill or maim innocents. The authorities are not mind readers, they could not possibly know if she was serious or just spouting off in anger. Threats should never be taken lightly.

What seagoat fails to recognize are the thousand little progressive increments that cede control to authoritarianism.

This threat of harm has next to nothing to do with that... and now she is snared in a system that will make her other problems seem small. She will comply... or she will be forced to comply. Parents should at minimum teach their children that there is a much greater consequence to bad ideas... the State.

Barney State or Andy State......there is a difference. The abuses of power must be met with jury nullification. I have seen this openly discussed in the PNJ the last three weeks. Citizens saying they will not find anybody guilty who has been charged by the Pensacola Police department or the Escambia County Sheriff. The State of Florida has an entire County which has an out of control criminal justice system.....from the jail, courts, and police, the system is broken. Citizens are talking......people can and will make a difference. Your idea that all government is bad is just immature thought process........something a fourth grader would conceptualize without thinking through the consequences. We have a great government. We need to make changes.....not scapegoating, but owning our mistakes and correcting this mess.

People need to take responsibility for their actions. Threatening to blow up a utility is irresponsible and illegal. I don't care if the woman was mad or had the means to do it. You never know what people will do. She will learn to control her temper or pay the consequences. I am sick of these loudmouth people who have run free speech into the ground.
