“Some people are speculating that it will be $250 to $300” for the Illinois training, said Dennis Convy, of St. Peters-based EDC Firearms Training, which offers eight-hour Missouri concealed-carry training course for $125.
“A lot of people are complaining about that. And a lot of people don’t understand why there is 16 hours of training. ... Then you have to have a reliable gun and holster. You’re looking at $1,000 by the time it’s all said and done,” said Convy. “I think it will prevent lower-income people from getting their concealed carry permits” in Illinois.
ENROLLMENT RUSH
Amy King, who co-owns Metro and its sister store in Bridgeton, said her staff was bracing for an enrollment rush for its concealed carry training classes in the wake of the new law.
The business offers an 8-hour class for $150 that allows participants to get a Florida concealed-carry license, which is valid in numerous states — though not in Illinois.
