You could be right.  But I'm reserving judgement on this.  I KNOW I don't trust the douchenozzles (as Sal puts it) in power.  I don't know yet if I can trust him.

He went to CHINA to do this!  CHINA!  That alone does not help his credibility one little bit in my book.

Actually he went to Hong Kong a much freer place where he can hide better...I liked it. They speak english.

Neko,  if going to China makes him discreditable then hundreds of CEO's of American corporations have not only gone to China,  they sold us and our jobs out when they did.  If he's a traitor then so are they.

No, no...it's not that I think it's wrong to go to China or to do business in China.  As long as you know where you're doing business.  
But to go to China and hold it out as some great bastion of freedom and respecter of privacy is a joke.

Hong Kong was a prosperous British Colony and it was returned to China but China didn't want to kill the golden goose so they left Hong Kong pretty much on it's own...so yes it belongs to China but it is much more like Taiwan.

Yes I realize you have no problem with the corporate types getting in bed with commie red China.  That was sorta my point.  You, like so many of the media pundits who are squawking about Snowden now,   are very selective when it comes to this.  Snowden is a traitor because he went to Hong Kong to escape crucifixtion by the American regime.  But the wonderful politicians and businessmen who took all our jobs over there are not.  The wonderful politicians and businessmen who have replaced quality American made goods with commie slave labor made crap are not.

If you can quote Snowden saying China is a "great bastion of freedom" then I would like to see that.  So far all I've seen is the regime and the media mouthpieces for the regime putting those words in his mouth.

By the way teo,  remember what I'm saying in this thread before you ever again accuse me of being a "sheeple who believes everything the government tells me" when we debate the "inside job".  This should convince you that I have as little faith in this government as you do.  I just don't believe in fairy tales.

Make up your mind....is it a safe haven for dissenters or is it a commie slave labor camp?

He is wrong no matter where he went.  Not because he chose Hong Kong. That is my opinion.  

But I mean that he has low credibility when he said this about Hong Kong:

“they have a spirited commitment to free speech and the right of political dissent.”

What you will learn is that even though they are under the boot of the government, the people of Hong Kong are a lot more resistant to having their rights and their privacy taken away than the dumbed down populace here.
That's obviously what Snowden was referring to.  He's a smart kid because he is better informed about this than I was.

Well, whatever happens....if he gives the Chinese our national security secrets, THEN he is no doubt a traitor.   Then it's no longer about him just educating the public about threats to our privacy.
