So my son is home, and he had bought a white van for his trip. My oldest daughter says it looks like a serial killer van because its all white.

so he has decided we are going to paint it ourself.

This will be the closest to hippy I ever get. My neighbors are about to think we are crazy lol and thats ok. he is leaving again to go to college at the university of wisconsin.

so one magical mystery van coming up. he is on his way to get the paint now.

any tips?

I had a buddy that taped doilies to his van and then spray painted over the doilies. It looked okay... for a hippie van.

Of course, he then removed the doilies leaving only the paint.

lol no worries guys

my son doesnt drink or smoke or dope, so he isnt worried about LEO

I guess he is naturally excentric, after all he is going for a masters in political science while studying film directory.

He wants to change the world, He must be NEON.

He's 22, I cant brag hes a laywer but he's free within himself. and while he may not be the same son that was sent to iraq, he is still my son and by god, I am going to paint that van with the most fabulous flower power blooms that a can and my hand can do.

If I die before my children bloom fully, Im am sure that in some way, some where, they will also have touched peoples lives, even if it is in a small way. Ive changed my tune, I now find simpleness as great.

Finish it off with a handmade FL license plate, and it's good to go.

When I was a kid my folks added a 20x40 caged pool to our house. It was concrete and some years later needed to be painted. A bunch of our friends were sitting around talking one night and one suggested polka dots.

One thing led to another and we all pitched in and painted it white. One friend was a sign painter by trade, when sign painters actually painted signs. He took a yard stick and drilled holes at various lengths. With two pencils, one with the eraser at the end, he drew all the circles all different sizes, bottom and sides. He painted the perimeter of the circle so they were not all squiggly. We all came along and painted them all sorts of colors.

For what started out as a joke, it came out fantastic. We mixed the colors ourselves with those tubes of colors. When we ran out of paint colors, we wanted vivid colors, we used...Food Coloring. The liquid kind you buy five little bottles to the package. If they still do....

Over the years some of the colors faded from the sun and chlorine but NONE of the circles colored with food coloring ever faded. Maybe they use something different today.

I have a friend that was a sorta cheap hippie. he wanted to fix up his van ...he got a buddy that lived on the beach to give him the old carpet he tore out of his house and carpeted the inside of his van. It wasn't too bad until he took everyone out for a ride and went over a railroad track and pounds of sand rained down from the carpet..took a long time for all that dirt to stop falling. Laughing
