in the little box that pops up that looks like a film, click okay and you're done. Then we can see the video you have that comes up.

I do that every time now, az, but for some reason it doesn't always create a hyperlink.

Surely there is some way to configure this software to automatically detect url's and automatically turn them into links.

He pasted the URL into the link icon (the chain LINK icon), not the icon link that looks like a piece of film.

I use the icon that is the fourth back from the right in the top row of icons.
The one where when you put your cursor on it the word "link" pops up.
The one that looks like two little circles side by side.

That's what I said, Bob. That is a picture of a couple of "links" in a chain. Y'know, LINK.

The second one from the right, looks like a couple of frames of film, is for videos. Hover your cursor over it and the word "video" appears. Paste your youtube URL into the window that appears when you click on it and it'll make a youtube window.
