Notice that at the climax of the film, the well spoken dotard who is inciting the mob to violence against the space cannon or "progress", is nowhere to be found while the mob rallies onward to their certain doom. Hmm, I know I've seen this deadly scenario repeated in real life, just this past year but I just can't remember where. Hmm...
