Small venue ... outdoors, less than 50 people and they only played one set. Never been too much into metal myself, but it was nice to share my daughter's music.  We heard some other band play a set right before them also.

I told her at one point they sounded a lot like what my roommate in the barracks at Fort Polk in 1979/80 used to listen to.  Laughing

Ah, love The Well! Pretty much what they call "stoner metal," although you don't have to smoke pot to enjoy it. I don't even drink, much less smoke, and I listen to tons of that stuff.

I see we've got cowboy music in the thread, which reminds me... Ennio Morricone soundtracks. I love those. I almost don't mind commercials now, since it seems every other one that's airing lately uses this:

And you know how some people sing in the shower? I whistle. And this is usually the go-to tune for that:

It is interesting that your choice of music is contrary to your positions on homosexuals.

Gotta love this 'un:

I’ve been born again and now I’m lily-white
I want to prove my faith and get into a fight
I want to scream and shout, give glory to my god
I’m feeling good inside this hazy little fog!
I want to start a war and show my master’s wrath
I want to leave a bloody ruined aftermath
I’m always free from guilt whatever I may do
I can always tell them it was god who told me to!

I got religion, I got religion
Now I’m a member of the club
I got religion, I got religion
And I don’t need no other drug

Now you should understand my god’s the god of love
He smiles upon his children as he floats above
But he don’t like no mischief from the other side
He tells his followers to burn the pricks alive!
I’m hoping Armageddon comes by real soon
And all you infidels will finally meet your doom
I’ll be held in rapture, ascending through the air
Watching Satan ride your back and pulling on your hair!

All you non-believers get ready to yell
Even though we torture you, you never learn
All you non-believers are going to hell
You’re gonna burn, you’re gonna burn, you’re gonna burn!

I got religion, I got religion
Now I’m a member of the club
I got religion, I got religion
And I don’t need no other drug
I got religion, I got religion
And now I’m drinking from the jug
I got religion, I got religion
We’re going to squish you like a bug

1. Broad Is The Gate

[Lynch, Smith, Miller, Knowland, Johnson]

Riding the edge of the night into darkness
Fading away in the sun
The roar of the Road King the wind in your face
The signs of a new day has dawned

The war in your sole never stops its invasion
And time never stands still for one
Like thousands of vandals approaching with terror
Know that your world is undone

[Chorus:]
Broad is the gate
That leads us into sorrow
Anguish and pain
Will fill each lonely day
Wide is the highway
That's paved with good intentions
Narrows the path
That leads us to the way

Cursing and sneering and spitting with hate
Trampling the ones who you love
Losing your grip now your life is in danger
Looking to heaven above
Tearing your robe with a fit so enraged
The cross road and gate opens wide
With boots on the ground when you’re posing for war
The road that you chose you decide

As the seasons change
The day's become so clear
Life goes racing on
So let me make this clear

As the seasons change
A day a week a year
Life goes racing by
So let me make this clear

[Chorus]

Now you're talking my language, Tel -- at least as to the PP&M group in general, though I tend to steer clear of the old protest songs - probably just had my fill of them back in the '60's.  Quite a few of PP&M's other songs are on my guitar playlist.  When Mary Travers died, it felt like a chunk of my youth went with her.

Not a believer here, but can't resist the haunting beauty of this song and play/sing it often. Wish I had Emmylou's voice, especially on the high notes.

I absolutely adore Olivia!   An incredible talent, a wonderfully nice person, and sooooo courageous!  She's doing a lot for breast cancer these days if you haven't heard.   http://www.onjcancercentre.org/

She's always been an inspiration to me.

So happens I have had a special connection with Ms "Fargo"  for many years. I never get tired of these two songs though.  Some songs are just that way.

Like Slayer? Like Beyonce? This one's got something for everybody if you listen all the way to the end.

For someone who screams like an angry cat, the singer's a total sweetheart. Pretty much impossible not to like. When she's not screaming and hammering a bass, she's donating blood and giving toys to kids. Metalheads are good people. Well, some of 'em, at least. Dave Mustaine's a prick. Smile
