Obviously, this guy NEEDS, REALLY NEEDS, that people, all people, think he's the smartest, kindest, most honest, sexiest, leader that ever walked the earth, and that there's nothing, I mean NOTHING worse than being seen as second best ... being seen as a LOSER.
This explains the alternative facts he pushes about:
1) Hillary got three million more popular votes because they were all cast by illegals in the greatest voter fraud of all time.
2) the crowds who gathered to help him celebrate the inauguration were the largest ever. Period.
3) what he said in the bus video about grabbing women by their pussies, was just locker-room talk and he meant none of it. Nobody loves women more than he.
4)It was the media who lied about his alleged feud with the 17 intelligence agencies ... and he never really compared the CIA to Nazis.
Consider: Every one of the incidents cited above brought forward angry Trump-tweets, angry on camera statements, and outright lies in obvious attempts to spin the situations. To present "alternative facts."
Why? Because these incidents made Trump look less than perfect, less than smart, less than honest --- in other words, they made Trump look smaller, dumber, and littler than the all wonderful image he so desperately needs. And his attempts to spin them all only made him look smaller, out of control, apprehensive, inadequate, and much LESS THAN PERFECTLY CAPABLE.
Consider: there are millions more people who distrust and fear Trump than support him, and by attacking the press, calling them liars, etc; he's made enemies of those who wield the most image-power in the USA.
Every day, in every way, more and more Americans are beginning to regard him as an emotionally infantile, thin-skinned loser.
And he's trapped now in this agonizing whirlpool of sewage, for four full years.
