Our resident fascist-racist and his buddies in this forum discount relevant facts and reports, unless they have been reported by a right wing publication. And the left tends to do the same.

Both sides at times choose to forget it's the fact that matters, not which publication brought it to the public eye.

Among the many bullshit stories put forth by rightist outlets like FOX News, or Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh, etc., there are a few truths. Ditto for Daily KOS, MSNBC, Salon, etc. Often a simple Google search turns up enough corroborating stories to make the story credible.

My point, again, is that credibility of a story should not be judged by the source of media that brought it forward.

If you know a strong left wing or right wing publication announces a powerful news story, we should do the research to ascertain whether the story is real or not. And if that can't be done quickly, then forum members should point out the story that's being presented cannot be corroborated at that time.

It's getting more and more difficult to tell if a new report or story is real. But the effort to find out the truth is always worth the trouble.

I agree that the source of the news should not either make the story true or false depending if the reader sympathizes with the general views of the source.

As has been often said: "Consider the source," meaning of course that the speaker may have a hidden, or not so hidden, agenda and may be spinning the data to fit their needs.

What concerns me about this whole Fake News fashion is that the thought that a story might be fake undermines the general perception that we can agree on some objective reality.

If we become so unsure of public information then the inmates have truly taken over the asylum and we are adrift in a sea of holograms and manipulated sound bites aimed at creating a public opinion based on nothing more than wishful thinking.

There is an objective reality. These days of blogs and seemingly unlimited news sources we may just have to be more vigilant in order to sort through the political chaff spewed about by those who prefer an ill informed public. We can do this; we just can't be so complacent.

Look, you smarmy little worm, I DON'T CHEAT PEOPLE. I can think of several instances in my life when I've been cheated and harmed by liars, but it has been a lifelong tenet of mine...I don't cheat anyone, even those who have wronged me. So stuff it.

You constantly post looney leftist opinions from obscure sites... based loosely on fact... to be generous.

Wow!

My far left Socialist good friend Wordslinger, is caught, again, with his pants down and all of a sudden, holier than thou Wordslinger, is preaching what everyone else should do.

Strange, I've been saying the same thing for years and received nothing but ridicule from Wordslinger and the other Progressives present.

You are an inveterate liar Markle.  Everyone in this forum has seen you repeatedly denigrate a report or story because it was published by a publication or network you disdained. Reality. Talk about being caught with your pants down!  LOL

Absolutely correct WS. He is the first to throw out or point out as unusable some report from Daily Kos or HufPo even when the stories are iron clad. If I see something on such a site I purposely try to find the original story before I post about it just because he is so eager to obliterate the essence and truth of something simply because he personally doesn't like the outlet.

And yet, you never come out and post anything that proves that my thread or post is NOT true.  Why?

That one time it did happen, due to my own negligence, I immediately stated that I was wrong. I even changed the headline to indicate so much.

The truth is Markle, most of the time your comments are total bullshit and you are simply not worth the time it takes to cut and paste.  Take this thread for example -- more than anyone else on this forum you disdain quotes or links from sources you don't like.  I threw it in your face and you come back saying no one disproves  your thread or post wasn't true.  On the thread dealing with Vietnam vets touring Vietnam by the thousands, you said that was bullshit. We proved you were wrong. With links. And you have the gall to claim your bullshit is always true? LOL!!!!!!

Gosh my far left Socialist good friend Wordslinger. You're wrong again. I am shocked, SHOCKED I SAY.

Contrary to what you SAID I posted, here is the copy and paste of what I REALLY said: I have never met a Vietnam vet who wanted to "vacation" in Vietnam to see "old battlefields". "Shake-off some of their PTSD"? You really are a fool.

Your continued desperation is duly noted!

I'm quite sure the thousands of Vietnam vets who have been unable to reconcile the tragedy of their lives during and after that worthless, senseless and cruel war, will be enlightened no end by your self-aggrandizing declarations in that regard. All of us are in your debt for helping us become better, more humble, more honest, and kinder human beings. You fucking idiot.
