http://www.politicususa.com/2016/12/12/electoral-college-electors-demand-intelligence-briefing-russia-election-interference.html

In the letter, ten electors requested an intelligence briefing before they vote:

The Electors require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations. We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States.

Additionally, the Electors will separately require from Donald Trump conclusive evidence that he and his staff and advisors did not accept Russian interference, or otherwise collaborate during the campaign, and conclusive disavowal and repudiation of such collaboration and interference going forward.

The electors also made reference to Federalist 68, “We further emphasize Alexander Hamilton’s assertion in Federalist Paper #68 that a core purpose of the Electoral College was to prevent a “desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils.” The United States intelligence community has now concluded with “high confidence” that a foreign power, namely Russia, acted covertly to interfere in the presidential campaign with the intent of promoting Donald Trump’s candidacy. During the campaign, Russia actively attempted to influence the election outcome through cyber attacks on our political institutions and a comprehensive propaganda campaign coordinated through Wikileaks and other outlets.”

The president-elect made the scandal worse by completely dismissing the findings of the CIA that Russia meddled in the election to help Trump win as ridiculous. Trump’s denial has triggered a group of bipartisan Senators who are pushing for an investigation, and Electoral College electors who want answers before they vote in a week.

The Russia scandal is not going to go away. If Trump does take office, the investigations are going to happen. The Trump administration can’t sweep the findings of seventeen intelligence agencies under the rug.

Donald Trump has a mushrooming scandal on his hands that, if it doesn’t stop his presidency, will be a dark cloud that will follow his every move for the next four years.

The electors want answers, and they may stop Trump if they get them.

Impossible

Yep, should be followed up but will not change anything. Just a desperate, futile effort on the part of the Progressives to whine and moan.

The CIA has evidence Russia interfered to elect Trump. Now watch we find out Trump knew about it and eventually gets impeached.

You tell us why a Trump associate was meeting w/ a Putin supporter then? We are not friends w/ Russia. Perhaps they exchanged recipes?

It's also very interesting Tillerson is the Sec. of State pick? No previous political experience. He was awarded the Order of Friendship award from Putin. The plot thickens.

I am pleasantly surprised and gratified to see the GOP leadership assert the need to lead/join an effort to determine the extent of this intrusion into our political alchemy . . . . .

Does anyone in this forum believe that our CIA's main priority is not destabilizing and helping overthrow leaders -- elected or not -- in order to pursue our "national interests?"  Note:  Whenever you see the descriptive "Our national interests," that means BUSINESS.

The CIA is the spearpoint for Boeing, Lockheed, Martin, GM and all the bloodsuckers in the MIC.

In pursuit of our National Interests, your CIA would slit your children's throats in a New York minute.

I trust the CIA the same way I trust cancer.  On this one, Trump is right.

Finally, America is waking up and realizing our new reality . . . . . . Putin has been identified as pushing his people to hack our political system to accomplish two things: undermine our political system and bring down HRC.

Intelligence officials say Putin personally involved in election hack

Yep, this country - and the CIA in particular - has a lengthy history of interfering in the political process of other country's. Is it any surprise that it comes back to bite us in the patootie? The ONLY reason it's such a hot topic now is because the Trumpet won. As you are fond of saying, reality.

I don't trust the CIA either, but that doesn't make Trump right.

There is no official report which identifies who did hacking. There are unofficial reports since August that the Russians were hacking computers. Congress has both sides of the aisle wanting to investigate the hacks. I can wait until testimony and the basis for those who have identified the Russians to communicate the basis of their conclusions. I think we can all agree that we should be united against foreign hacking of American computers. I can wait for committee testimony.

Incorrect Oatie. The CIA confirmed the Russians hacked the RNC and DNC.
