Considering that more women than men vote, Trump is cutting his own throat when he denigrates women, which it turns out he's been doing for most of his adult life.
He raves on and on about "Crooked Hillary" and her "Play for Pay" doings, and then his own illegal activities in Havana -- violating the American embargo in hopes of being the first to build a new American casino there -- comes to light in the press. And it's followed by the revelation that Trump addressed an anti-Castro crowd in Miami, telling them that Castro is a terrible tyrant and how, if he is elected, he will reverse everything Obama has done to open relations with Cuba. Is he really so dumb that he thinks reporters won't dig up his truths?
In need -- desperate need -- of the Latino vote, Trump goes out of his way to disparage Mexicans and their government.
During their all-important first debate on TV, when Hillary hints that the reason Trump won't show his tax returns may be because he's paid no federal income tax, a squirming Trump interrupts and quips: "That makes me smart." Here we have another billionaire who won't contribute to education, the military, veteran's health, the failing infrastructure, etc. Most of us do pay taxes, and his statement indicates we're dumb for doing so. Trump is a guy whose mouth fires before his brain is engaged. That's stupid!
With Obama recently achieving his highest approval ratings and popularity, Trump tells America that Vladimir Putin is a stronger and better leader. That's dumb for someone who's looking for votes.
Following the debate, he claimed on camera, that Lester Holt, the moderator, did a good job. The next day Trump at a rally denigrated Holt, claiming he was unfair, and obviously pro-Hillary. New revelations appear in the press, proclaiming that Trump's alleged charity foundation has been collecting funds which Trump gave away, without federal authorization. Only a stupid politician would have let this happen.
And the list goes on and on.
The voting public can and does forgive a politician (Trump is a politician now) for a slip of the tongue, or some scurrilous activities in the individual's past. The Bill Clinton sex scandal is a perfect example. Eisenhower was rumored to have had an affair with his female driver in
WWII. Nobody cared. Everyone knew or guessed that two of the Kennedy brothers were banging Marilyn Monroe, but nobody really cared because the brothers kept the scandal out of the press. Nobody cared if Clinton had affairs, as long as they didn't become headlines. But when Clinton was caught and the scandal of his lurid affair with Lewinsky exploded, America turned on him -- not for the affair but for getting caught. We didn't care if Willy got some on the side, but we turned on him hard when his stupidity brought the affair to light.
Living in a world threatened by global warming, ISIS, a cop war against the public, high unemployment, a healthcare system that is faltering, and continual economic deprivation for the American working class, a madman in North Korea building A-bombs and intercontinental missiles, the Zika virus, etc., etc., etc., we desperately need and want a leader smart enough to get us and our children safely through this growing pile of shit.
What we don't need is another dummy in the White House.
Reality.
