Everyone had a good time, and my wife took the in-laws back to their house. She came home and marveled how she not only pulled-off Christmas, but fixed a meal for whomever wanted to stay and eat.

Then the phone rang at 12:30 AM, last night. It was my MIL, who was fighting with her good-for-nothing son..... She wanted my wife to come and get her so she could stay at our house. My exhausted wife refused. The co-dependency between my 82 yo MIL and my 49 yo BIL runs deep. I think she is going to give him a large sum of money so he will go away. We will see how this plays out....

It's really sad when you have someone like that in your family and the mother isn't strong enough to set boundaries. In my mother's case, it took 20 yrs. for the rest of the family to finally say enough. Not too long ago my sister was at a car wash and was talking on her phone and didn't move her car up. The guy behind her beeped his horn and she got out and cussed him out including calling him the "N" word. He punched her over the hood of her truck and she landed on the concrete getting stitches in her head. That's not the first time she's gotten beat up for her mouth. She never learns and my mother always defends her. When my mother's gone she'll have no family unless she gets help and that's not likely.

The drama continues into today. My wife usually brings my MIL over on Sunday afternoons when MIL gets home from her church, but she said nobody is coming over today.

Joani, that number 8 is positively going to be a heart breaker.   Looks like a movie star already!

As for being lucky they're in Gulf Breeze, you're lucky to have them at all, and I readily admit that although I'm very happy for you, I'm more than a little envious.  My one and only son and his younger doctor wife have decided they're too busy and have too many things they want to do (read: travel -- which they regularly do, especially to Europe and the Bahamas, even though they still have her college loans and his back taxes, plus other debts, live in one of the most expensive cities in the nation, and continue to pour money down the drain in rent every month).   They give out with that B.S. phony rationale used by just about every couple in history that ever decided not to have children: "We don't want to bring a child into the world the way it is."  Well, it's perfectly fine for THEM to live in and enjoy, so don't give me that baloney.      Rolling Eyes

Nowadays I regularly wish I'd had more children myself (especially a girl, who might visit her mother now and again), but my late ex-husband was a lousy provider and I found the burdens of career, child rearing (even just the one), and all the housekeeping (he never did anything but drop his socks on the floor) enough to keep me in birth control pills for the duration.

Sorry, just needed to vent tonight.

Hum...wish my mom was still alive.....you should never give your mom an ultimatum after all she didn't abort you...

No, Teo she gave us an ultimatum. She was invited. The sister was not. If she chose not to come because of the sister, well that was her choice. We decided we weren't going to be abused anymore by the sister. The sister refused to get help and we refused to take it anymore.

Don't blame you one bit!

Nor do I, FWIW.

I have heard the comment..."...the world the way it is" many times. But my world is so much better because if them.

My Christmas was made when granddaughter # 2 whispered in my ear....."Maw, I got everything I wanted". She didn't even make out a Christmas list. Or granddaughter #1 telling me I love it, Maw. Nothing like having all 9 in the house opening gifts at the same time.

Number 8 is just like his mom...for a little one that just turned 3....he keeps me amazed all the time. I picked him up at pre-school and he asked "what are we going to do?" I told him I was on a mission to pick him up from school....he raised both arms and squealed MISSION ACCOMPLISHED as he jumped in my arms.

I have a friend that's 19 years old that just got a vasectomy and said he doesn't want to be trapped by any woman or have kids, ever...his mom is a little annoyed.

Grandkids are a reward from upstairs.....I am amazed at the happiness they bring me, but I also realize that any child I spend time with gives me great happiness. Children in general are a blessing, and to be connected to your grandkids who adore you......whipped cream and a cherry on top.

I absolutely agree. Children (not just grandchildren) are gifts from God...that come with responsibility. I was sitting on the couch a few days before Christmas with my 7-year-old granddaughter on one side and my 2-year-old grandson on the other...bliss.

Yet you support the Supreme Court over ruling God in the matter of abortion. The kind of love you have for children is goulish, rotten and dishonest.

I fear this is the problem with so many right-to-lifers.   They have no trouble allowing - nay, encouraging - multitudes of children to be born - many into very difficult circumstances - but don't want taxpayers to foot the bill for the social programs needed to help bring them up with a fighting chance.

Here's an idea... all men must submit to a vasectomy at 18. If you think you may want to have children you must pay for the govt to test and preserve a sample. If you want to have a child the govt will qualify you by all means. Lets fix shit.

That's far from the point. Convenience killing is morally wrong. Although I have actually taken care of  dozens just like every tax payer has... the democrats in government rob me and give my money to the single moms to buy votes.
I realize asking women to keep their legs together is demeaning and insulting...So much better to suck the kids out later in pieces and call it women's rights...
......saying grandchildren are such a blessing from god and then standing for abortion seems incredibility bipolar.
50 million is a lot of condom failures......
Passing thought...the problem is between women's ears...why are you going to let some guy inseminate you that doesn't love you and wouldn't take care of your children ?

Passing thought....the problem is between men's ears -- and their legs.  Why would they take advantage of a woman they don't love just for the passing pleasure of sexual gratification, with nary a thought to the huge burden they may have just placed on the woman, her family, society, and the unborn child itself?  Doubtless it's because the male knows he'll almost assuredly get away scot free of any responsibility whatsoever, if he even gives all that a passing moment's thought (which is questionable).

Can you say who is the far greater thoughtless idiot (not to mention total jerk) in this copulating pair?

And yet, to my everlasting amazement, it's almost always the male of the species crying foul on abortion and murdering the doctors who perform it.

Un-blanking-believable.

Oh come on it's all equality till you want to play the poor little woman card....I ain't never copulated with woman yet that didn't want to...they would call it rape otherwise....so who holds the keys momma ? Women period.

Yes so very many heroic Abortion doctors have been killed in their holy task of liberating the modern woman.....3 or 4 maybe....in 42 years...

At least the doctors don't live in China....

In China, doctors live in fear of their patients.

They’re stabbed. They’re beaten by crowds. They’re threatened if anything goes wrong — or at least, if the patient thinks something is going wrong.

The violence is mostly in the rural provinces, but the danger is everywhere: There were nearly 30 attacks on clinicians at the average Chinese hospital in 2012.

When my daughter was pregnant, with number 8 grandchild her first, she had abnormal blood work. I went with her to the high risk specialist. Her blood work showed a 1:250 chance of a trisomy.  The specialist did an ultrasound....it took 45 min. When he came in he showed us the ultrasound findings....a blip in the heart, which is a  normal finding but a much higher incident in trisomies. He then showed a highlighted area in the brain...again a normal finding but a much higher incident in a trisomy fetus. In a matter of an hour we went from a 1:250 chance to a 1:25 chance of a trisomy.

I never knew what my daughter's convictions were until she held her belly and refused the amniocentesis. She said this is my baby....it doesn'the matter what the tests show.

I asked the doctor to give me a few minutes with my baby girl.....I encouraged her to have the amniocentesis for her sake and mine. If our little one had special needs then we needed to prepare ourselves over the next 6 months.

The amino was done and the results received 3 days later showed a normal healthy baby. I never told my daughter about my dreams.....prior to the abnormal lab work I dreamed she had a Down Syndrome little girl....and she was coaching her daughter's special needs basketball team. A beautiful dark haired little girl with glasses.

OK then, would you at least concede that each half of the couple bears EQUAL responsibility, and it's NOT just the woman who "holds the keys?"

No concession unless the rules were agreed to before the merger...If it was open free love then someone better have a diaphragm or a condom or birth control pills or great rhythm or something...because if the woman gets prego then without the benefit of marriage it's all on her...she surely had some idea of what a million  sperm had on their little one celled minds as they took a dive in her pool....nature can be such a hammer....(unreasonable)....Hey women wanted to have the same promiscuity as men enjoy....whoops there IS a difference ...

What a gutless, spineless, turd you are.  It's almost as if you're a senior citizen version of the "affluenza" kid.  The only difference being that his downfall was his affluent upbringing and yours is being an ignorant, spineless, moron who clearly never did well with women - hence your clear and obvious disdain for them.

Either way, you're both douchebags who never developed any sense of big boy responsibility.

And the man had absolutely no idea what those same sperm might produce, so bears no responsibility whatsoever in this scenario??   I'm seeing misogyny lurking here, and am betting the regulars on this forum will bear me out on that.

In any event there's very obviously no reasoning with this.  I give up.

So you're saying the government should take it's guns and force a man to support any woman that gets knocked up ? So women. like blacks are helpless without the government EQUALIZING things....? You progressives are so regressive treating women like they were idiot children...
