Pass the Senate Bill which puts more resources on the border and gives people a path to citizenship.  Done   It is a moving citation going 41 in a 35mph zone.  Common sense.  Xenophobia against Irish, Jews, Italians, Chinese, and now Hispanics needs to be seen in our rear view mirror.

Immigration is good for the economy.....documented or not.  The federal reserve has studies which show ALL immigration is good for the economy.  We need to separate racial prejudice from real security concerns and real economic analysis as to wages and meeting labor demand.  The feds say undocumented immigration benefits the economy......but if our analysis is only skin deep and we build policies around the same.....we are making a mistake.

We already have a very liberal and generous LEGAL immigration policy. One of the most open in the world.

I know illegal immigrants.   They are great hard working family people.  I have known an illegal who was a criminal who exposed himself to his daughter's friend.   Was his immigration status what made him evil.......nope, there are bad people in every population.   I saw how great Reagan's leadership was with Social Security reform and immigration reform.   The Senate Bill was great for America.  I am not afraid of brown or black people.   I do not get scared when talking to my Muslim friends.  A Muslim surgeon at Northwestern extended my life last summer and I am glad his family came to America and their son excelled.  I am sorry that dullards who are low hanging fruit feel threatened by people of color.   I cannot be the Wizard of Oz and give out courage.....so the cowards will whine, but the folks who are here are and will reach for the American dream just like each of our families.  The xenophobes are just small sad people.

I beg to differ with that characterization of "our" kids. My children are hardworking...and I assure you they are not idiots.

Illegal immigrants (of whatever race, nationality, ethnicity) should be few & far in between in this country and should live in fear every day of being arrested & deported.

Economic and racial arguments are irrelevant to the topic of illegal immigration.

If we, as a nation, decide having more immigrants will be good for our economy ... or for some other reason .... then we should boost legal immigration to effect that goal.

I know it feels good to say that .... but it's not as easy or practicable as you might think. (unless, of course, you are advocating for a machine readable, biometric, National ID Card and associated national database?)

Now that's not to say worksite enforcement is not a good tool to have in our immigration enforcement toolbox (we've had it for 25 years now), nor that we don't need to enhance our nation's immigration worksite enforcement program with sufficient resources to make it credible... but that's what it is ... one tool of many, not an overall solution.
