Will South Carolina fly their confederate flag at the state capital at half staff in honor of the murdered black churchgoers?

few condone these murders......the politically correct thread was perfect timing.....yuppies denying the reality we live, and Bob thinking that we can find our guidance from comedians who are not funny.   The confederate flag is complex......I have relatives who fought for the south and lived in Georgia and Southern Alabama in Lee County.  To me the flag represents a half million Americans who died to get rid of the evil institution of slavery.....for others they argue state rights......but in the end I have never met a person who flew the confederate flag who saw all Americans as equals.....just my pov on a complex issue.   I wish folks understood that symbols and words of hate matter.

but ignore the young black male violent crime rates and the truly outrageous black on black murders.

I have a neighbor across the street who flies the confederate flag.  I have a neighbor who is african american a block down the road.  They invite me over for a beer when I could drink, and its just redneck fun, drinking beer, talking about boating, or fishing.....I had fun, but as the night gets later and I have returned home.....I hear the N word being yelled and I am sorry.....I have never met a person who flies the confederate flag who does not look at other humans as being less......If I used that same criteria to judge the flag flyer....he certainly would not feel good.  The flag is a rally point of hate......can we not recognize the same.  Yea, gasoline is complex......but do we need to throw it on the campfire when we are cooking marshmallows.

I guess it was around 8:30 or so this evening there was a report on MSNBC showing a picture of the American flag and the SC flag both being flown at half staff but the Confederate Battle Flag was not. Why?

Let me tell you about my redneck beer drinking confederate flag flying across the road neighbor.....he is 70 and thinks he is a ladies man....he wears tight shorts and a tee shirt which exposes his belly which extends eight inches beyond his waist....he lost his driver's license ten years ago(dui), and every once in awhile he will ask me to drive him to a bar six miles away.....he is that guy at your local cheers who is your best friend and hangs on until you buy him a beer and then he goes an bothers somebody else.....he worked for thirty years cutting the grass at a golf course, and because he cannot drive a car, he drives a golf cart around town.....oh I forgot he wears a kerchief folded perfectly and he has lost most of his front teeth......this is the guy who yells N......at night with his drinking buddies.....but he is just brain cell deprived.....it is the clever people who profit with dog whistle politics to manipulate my neighbor, and when a group gets together you get your house spray painted with the N word and swastikas......you see without PC we revert back into unacceptable, and sadly this chit is just under the surface and denying the same is simply denial.

Mom's folks were already in Utah. Dad's were in the Ukraine. However, if any of my ancestors were cannibals, you wouldn't find me flying their flag at the State Capital building, the way it is in South Carolina. Slave holding doesn't rank being honored, not in any way. That kind of heritage really is pure shit.

And the subject of this thread is South Carolina's outrageous act of continuing to fly the Confederate Flag at the top of its pole, at their State capital cite.

But I guess we're supposed to cut War Hero some slack in these instances, due to his mental challenges initiated by his heroic battle actions which saved us all from Saddam's WMD.
