GOP 2016!  Not only will you get aggressive tax cuts aimed at pouring gasoline on the gross wealth redistribution fire, not only will you get ballooning deficits that require steep cuts to important areas such as education and infrastructure, not only will you get a higher rate of uninsured - a higher unemployment rate - and a generally shittier economy, but now you will also get that good ole right-wing, religiously informed homophobia ingrained into your public policy!

(CNN)With a swipe of his pen, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback wiped out protections offered to state employees facing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Brownback, a Republican, issued the executive order Tuesday, doing away with an order enacted by his predecessor, former Gov. Kathleen Sibelius.

In 2007 Sibelius issued an order expanding workplace protections to include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees of the state.

Brownback, in signing his order, said this "ensures that state employees enjoy the same civil rights as all Kansans without creating additional 'protected classes' as the previous order did."

He added "the order also reaffirms our commitment to hiring, mentoring and recognizing veterans and individuals with disabilities."

LGBT groups decried the move, describing it as "foul, reckless and shameful."

Thomas Witt, executive director of Equality Kansas, said in a statement the move amounts to declaring "open season" on workplace harassment for LGBT state employees.

"If you work for the state and have felt comfortable being "out" at work knowing you had protection from bigotry, that protection is gone," he said.

I guess he learned nothing from Judge Roy Moore of Alabama, whose similar ruling has been rescinded by the courts.

Looks like Arkansas is about to do the same thing

Sal

It's the perfect plan.

Distract people from looking at Kansas' cratering budget, finances, and massive cuts to social services all due to his policies' complete bankrupting of the state by being hateful and cruel to a minority.

And, it will work because Kansas is brimming with moronic bigots.

Kansas gets what Kansas deserves.

Bob Dole was a Kansas Republican who was a good man. I got to meet him, and I can say today this war hero would be considered a communist by some of the folks who post on this forum. The special interests have bought media shills and politicians and as the American people get their pockets picked.....they are standing around the water fountain talking about gay marriage.........abortion.........and guns. So Kansas just needs a light to shine and the cockroaches will scramble....but sadly it will take years before that light will shine, and in the meantime Kansas is being sacked.

Do the aforementioned people not already have the same protections under the law like everyone else? Nuf said.
