If it is close to breaking bad it should be fun.

It's a prequel to Breaking Bad. It begins when Saul Goodman was still Jimmy McGill. And when Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) was just a parking attendant.

No spoilers! I have it on DVR to watch this week. Loved his character on Breaking Bad. Ehrmantraut, too.

Not much to spoil, actually.

Episode one seemed to be just about setting the table.

Haven't watched episode two yet, but thinking it'll be gaining momentum quickly.

That opening sequence on "Uno" confused the heck out of me.   But then after reading the internet following a viewing of both episodes last night, I realized why.  It's because I have not yet watched the last season of Breaking Bad so I had no clue what was happening.  lol

This is primarily the creation of two people (although of course all the cast brings that creation to life so I don't take anything away from them).
But this is the work of Vince Gilligan who you know as the brains behind BB.
And this time he's collaborating with an equal partner,  Peter Gould.

This Peter Gould is an interesting character.  And what I didn't know until now is that Gould was a very important contributor to Breaking Bad,  maybe even as important as Gilligan.  But we never knew about it...

SPOILER ALERT - This is only for those who've ALREADY watched the first two episodes.

This is an interview Gilligan and Gould gave the Hollywood Reporter...

Okay now I think I've figured this deal out.  After seeing this I now realize Better Call Saul is really being created by Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan is in the background on it.

Why?  Two reasons.

1.  Gould wrote the original "Better Call Saul" episode for Breaking Bad which introduced the whole concept.

2.  Gilligan is also in the process of creating and writing another series he sold to Sony and CBS which debuts on CBS on March 1st.
He's spread too thin to also be the brains behind Better Call Saul.  Especially since both series were in production at the same time.

So far, it started slow but the ending was good. Loved seeing the side of Saul finally surface when he hired the two skateboarders to make a little money for him.

That face at the end of season one... Shocked Laughing I think we'll watch the second episode tonight.

Yes, Bob, you need to watch the final season of BB.

I am glad they brought Tuco back from Breaking Bad.

He is a fabulous character.

p.s. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that the name of the character in "The Good,  the Bad and the Ugly" was also named Tuco?

Thank you, Mr. Google. You never fail us. lol

Q: Do you and the Breaking Bad writing staff intentionally seek inspiration from other great crime films, or does it just evolve as scripts are written? — Alec

Gilligan: My writers and I are inspired constantly by great movies and TV shows. Not just crime movies, but westerns. We take a lot of inspiration from the “spaghetti westerns” of Sergio Leone. Once Upon a Time in the West is a particular favorite, and the first fifteen minutes of that movie is something that I have potential directors of the show watch before they start directing for us.
