Israel even helped the apartheid government od South Africa build a secret stash of atomic bombs in the 1980s (I guess apartheid governments must think alike...). We just passed the 35th anniversary of the last above-ground Israeli nuclear test--done in secret with the help of South Africa in the Indian Ocean in October 1979 (the Vela Incident). At least, after the apartheid government of South Africa fell in 1990, the South Africans came clean about their arsenal and dismantled it.
