Their sentences are suspended. If they do not commit a similar "crime" then the punishment will not be carried out. I guess that is their version of a pre-trial intervention program.

in other iran news, a man was given the death sentence for insulting muhameed. it was also suspended for 3 years as long as he doesn't do it again, he gets to live. Yep, that's progress.

They were taking to the street during the arab spring. While obama threatened the leader of egypt... and bombed libya...

and drew red lines while supplying weaponry in syria... and tinkered in numerous other countries... he did nothing for iranians.

Not that he necessarily should have... but it does make you wonder why he didn't.
