I'm surprised you've never seen one of those. We have them here. Ive never seen one that big but I have seen them half that size.

I once saw a big alligator snapping turtle swimming along a drainage ditch near Forest Sherman Field at NAS Pensacola. My company had a contract there to do environmental and wetland assessments. There are bunches of water moccasins on that base, too.
